@spektor88 I'll bet that STUART COPELAND would not agree with you. I don't think someone forced him into the group...keep your ignoramus opinions to yourself.
lol, all 3 are all stars of music and they came together to make an amazing supergroup. This was a blessing to music fans, pick up the album at least, you'll agree, if you have any taste
@bitesale That was his start. Look up Blind Illusion. He was best friends with Jim from FNM and he was tapped to replace Cliff in Metallica originally
I remember downloading this album on 9/10/2001, I went to bed while it downloaded, man technology is really getting fast, and when I woke up i started listening to it. Soon after my roommate bust in and told me america was under attack, I didn't believe him. after a while listening to this i went to take a leak and saw 9/11 on the tv. you could faintly hear oysterhead from my room. it sucks, but every time i listen to the awesomeness that is oysterhead im reminded of 9/11...
@Canaveral305 This was recorded on a talk show stage, meaning that the microphones on the cameras are EQ'd for Conan's high voice, to pick up the highs, and not the lows from the external speakers. That's why there's not enough bass :/
i really thought that primus was god awful when i first started listening to them; after i listen to them, phish, oysterhead, i realized theyre all terrible. primus sucks, phish sucks, oysterhead SUCKS. i wish they weren't on national tv
@HArryhood421 yeah you're right. 3 of the most talented musicians on earth together at once playing some of the heaviest funkiest rock ever created is sucky. fuck off.
Had Stewart come out of the gate (after The Police) with a band like this, instead of Animal Logic, it would have been really cool. He hasn't lost one bit of his chops.
@funincluded Aww I wanted so much to go to Bonnaroo this year! Family matters got in the way. But I'm sorry, I shall never soil the name that is Les Claypool again.
@Imspacedbro Dr. John C. Lilly was psychoanalyst that helped to create the first isolation tank in an effort to isolate it from outside stimulations. in 60s he often used isolation tanks while under the influence of LSD or ketamine (in the tank he's grooving..) to study the consciousness of humans. interesting reads, if you ever get the chance.
@joshuarjonesftw Wasn't there a movie about it? or I saw something on TV about it how his assistant would try to get him out so he could go home, but the doctor wanted to stay in the water......any connection with lilly pharmeceuticals?
@c0d3x001 I wouldn't say that this is a perfect live performance. It is very good, but you can see it in Copeland's face when he either mistimes a note or something like that. It also kinda seems like Trey's guitar is a little quiet, but they fixed that before the next bar. Still, the song takes about a minute to warm up here, and when it does it is killer.
@GrandaddyPhunk that'S what i love about this performance... it's not that stiff or sterile... you know what i mean... you can actually enjoy watching them play even if there was no music
@GrandaddyPhunk You think this song takes a minute to warm up? I say you are stupid and insane. The intro is sick! Copeland's beat burns from the first stroke and you don't know shit about music!
@iamcraiger wow.. whats sloppy about this? of course it's not as perfect as the studio version cause they can't record every instrument individually and do as many takes as they want... this is perfect live performance ...i love it
the song is played faster because they have a time frame to play it in...this is not a 3:42 song but in order to fit the time frame of the show they had to cut out solos and make it a ll faster...its called show biz lol
a faster tempo doesn't mean it's not "right." and virtually every single band plays with a slight increase in tempo live. Jimi Hendrix did it, Led Zeppelin did it, Frank Zappa did it, Phish does it, The Police did it, Primus does it....you know what I'd love it if you could find me one talented band that hasn't done it. I'm not being sarcastic, I'd really want to see it,
@ScottieBaio They probably planned it that way...who cares what tempo they play it in, as long as they keep that tempo going? Maybe you should give les a call and tell him to play slower and see what he says
These guys need to put out more music! This is almost better than Primus! Hard for me to say that but I like what Trey and Stewart have added to what Les does.
@FalseWitnessScoob - I understand what you are saying, I love both bands; but they are simply not comparable beyond the fact that they are a trio with Les on bass. I would consider Primus a jam band in some ways, but only after I saw them play at Vibes this year; with ten minute versions of every song...but based on their studio music, they are definitely a funk metal band and Oysterhead is a jam band.
Either way, Oysterhead is such a treat, I'd take a Primus tour 1st and Oysterhead any day.
@FalseWitnessScoob yeah dont ever say this is comparable to primus. im almost offended for primus fans everywhere. dont get me wrong, this is gold, and i absolutely love stewart copeland, but dont ever compare it to primus.
@EatingABombs Thanks brother! These guys really make some good tunes together. It sounds like they have been together forever, not just a one off. Hope more from them comes out.
@FalseWitnessScoob it really sux when guys like this get together and make such a badass album, and then you realize they probably wont ever play again as a band!
