it does take longer to reach the skill level in melee, but just because brawl takes a short amount of practice to be good, it doesn't mean brawl cant still be competitive. If you have an equally skilled person matched with another equally skilled person, it comes down to the strategy of the character and the player using the character. That's how it is for the whole franchise, there will still be a challenge of being competitive with other smashers. Whats gonna happen when SSB Universe comes out

@megakirby9 That would be because Melee competitive playing involves doing things the game developers didn't think would happen. Brawl is more predictable because it's less buggy. =)

@case2011 Imagine you´re in your falling animation as a a result attack to the ground. You can "tech" your fall, by pressing the shield button right before touching the ground; your character won´t slam aginst the floor like a corpse, and will do a handstand/whatever to absorb the impact and regain control of itself.

Same can be done against a wall if you´re launched against one, thus avoiding to bounce from it and fall from the stage as you can see in 3:55

Yes it was a wall tech. The ShineSpike takes loads of practice since it is much harder to land in Brawl compared to the other games.

There is a simple way around ledgehogging, don't let it happen. I play with real opponents and we go all out in friendlies, using new tricks and other stuff we learn. I play with people that'll ledgehog when possible I just don't let them do it.

We don't limit a game that's already limited using only fundamentals gets boring fast. If you only fight onstage that's good for you though, we and most of the smash community would just get bored of that and fast.

Ledgehogging is not the term you use. It's called edge-guarding.

They are two different things. Edgeguarding is when you defend the ledge by attacking. Edgehogging is when you take the ledge so the opponent can't. Not trying to start anything--just clarifying.

I have a friend who is an insane G&W. I uses his frame time to his advantage and messes you up. So yea, thats good enough. I'm afraid of G&Ws. My friend is very good at spiking with DK and I reflect people while off the edge of the stage so are aerial battles consist of who will get spiked first.

My friend has DKs Down Air, Forward Air, and he does DKs cannon spike which is when he picks you up, jumps of the edge and throws you into the side of the stage which usually sends you straight down.

What I do, is when I know a Ness is going to PK Thunder off edge, I get myself hit by it and he falls to his death. Only on ness tho, not Lucas.

I think you're confused by what I mean. If Ness' PK Thunder hits someone or something else it disappears, so if he's in the air, and you let it hit you before he can hit himself, he can't recover.
