If you want to do the dj5 4wd conversion you can, but it's a LOT of work. Converting it to LHD is a good idea because there aren't a lot of RHD CJ5's to rob steering parts (linkages, pitman arms..) from. Automatics are pretty tough to fit in there. The front drivesahft will hit the transmission pan on the 727, and the rear driveshaft will be real short. A GM th350 would work better, and can be adapted to the 232 and CJ5 transfer case and axles. The 727 was used on wagoneers, which are different.
comparing the two in picture like I know you clearly had the luxury to do. What are you 12? Sure seems like it with the stupid comments you leave. Grow up!
First of all that's my wife...don't EVER talk shit about someones wife, it could get you in deep shit! Second of all the person that said it looked like the jeeps from jerrasic park clearly wasn't sitting in front of a computer l
i don t like to leave nasty comments but.... the girl holding the camera is dumb and annoying.. and whoever said this looks like the jurassic park jeep?? why? cause its red?? they were stock YJs with square headlights.. not lifted CJ with big mud tires and round headlights...anyway.. awsome cj!! I love it!
@jasoncaffey777 I bet that is a very powerful motor, I'm surprised that your Jeep is an automatic instead of a manual, I would've thought your Jeep has a stick shift
now ive got a 75 dj5 the ol mail jeeps, they were only made in 2wd, but it does have posi in the back, and the 727 torqueflite tranny behind the 232, so, would you know if i could bolt up the front end out of a cj series into it, and fit a t-case behind the tranny to make it 4wd?
@tallzdatank A few years back the magazine 4 wheel and offroad did a conversion on one of those old mail mules! I'm sure if you visit their website they still would have the back issues around
what a bunch of crap

Nice Jeep, I'm a big fan of the 1970s Jeep's, what is the engine/tranny for your Jeep?
Doobie1975 1 year ago
@Doobie1975
It has a Chevy 350 out of a Vette with a turbo 350 tranny.

@tallzdatank Im not totally sure about the front end, but I would think you could make it 4wd. You might have a VERY short drive line to the rear.
