i wish i could find the mike-tim (kevin bacon)-darren storyline on youtube. mike was investigating the muder of darren's girlfriend. tim was the main suspect. darren was the son of a senator. this would be roughly 1981. in a reenactment of bacon's death scene from friday the 13th (or a reenactment of nancy loomis's death in halloween), mike lunged from the back seat of a car and slapped his hand over tim's mouth. in the commercials it looked like a horror movie preview.
The good old days, the names on the credits bring back some great storylines and characters. The soaps are SO DISRESPECTED today, what a shame. Thanks for posting.
@dvlaries classicGL posted that version, 'rotationg Emmy award', & I do believe it's still up. It's a shortened version (no cast list) of the 'rotating Emmy award' closing but it is there. (The only time I've seen the full cast list 'rotating Emmy award' closing since that time period was when World of Soap Themes was still a website, prior to August of last year; that particularly closing was from sometime between Jan. - May 1981).
Look at how slow that scrolling marque is. Today, credits that scroll have to go by Mach Speed because those ads demand more than 50% of the time allotted for the television show.
@churlyryan You can say that again. I remember taping the show as early as Feb. '81 when we got our first VCR, and instances where the end credits seemed to go by so slowly that I backed up and actually timed them, and they'd occasionally total up between 3:10 and 3:30. That would never happen today.
remember when the credits were so long they'd have to restart the song? lol. Wow, i miss that

Whoa! Cicily Tyson was on the Guiding Light? When was this? What kind of character did she play?

Nobody seems to have the 'rotating Emmy award' version of the closing credits. At least, not so far.

I'm guessing the beginning two were from the 1950s? Awesome! I love seeing old credits.
