The whole 'Getting two bombcarts' to line up perfectly parallel doesn't fit a real world model. You notice in the vid, they are not moving when getting loaded. Looks like they were carefully placed for the shot.
Real drivers don't come in that straight. Not all the time.
There is a fair amount of movement of the heads to make up for it, but you would have to sit there, and adjust one, then the other.
Overall, I think it was a good idea, an obvious idea...on paper.
I drive these cranes. They are having a hard enough time trying to get them to produce as fast as traditional gantries, never mind the problems associated with twin lifts. My port has had three of them for two years, and they are getting desperate to find a solution. They are damm expensive.
@macdognuts, it only takes about 5 mins to uncouple the heads, and park one.
Hell, they uncouple themselves from time to time. ;o)
@racastilho Simply, they are too complex for their own good. Set up to drive most efficiently in 'Auto' mode, they are a bitch to drive manually. The reaction curves are all wrong.
They are very smooth in Auto, however they are not as fast as a good operator on a traditional single spreader, fully manual machine.
They have put the regular workforce onto these machines to garner feed back into how they can make them perform better. Maybe this will help the process.
Do you know that JESUS CHRIST can give you everlasting life ? - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. Turn to Jesus !
waste of money for a number of reasons...it wont speed production because its to dangerous and will never work with a chassis.and if you do 1 move with it you have to do all your moves with it so you don't waste time taking it apart
@dookman: Thanks, Dook.

@dookmann Hi dookamnn, just for curiosity: why don't they produce as fast as traditional gantries? And by traditional you mean single spreader?
