If motor racing was classed as warfare then those who raced at the 'Ring in these types of cars should be awarded the VC. These guys had bravery in HUGE amounts.
Dan was way out front with less then two laps to go when the fuel system on his Gurney-Weslake V-12 gave up. An all too common problem to that engine. Dan should have used Ford Cosworth DFV the following year, but he stuck with his G-W engines that by 1968 were really uncompetitive.
@gilbertoagostinho no, ain't no joking. at least in f-1, no amazing pilots. just good cars and amazing engineering. the "amazing pilots" class ended when senna died. or one can tell you that the last one was schummy some years before retirement. nowadays, who's amazing?
You're clearly from the Senna Church of blind worshipers.
Jackie Stewart just said recently that this is the best generation of drivers since the 60s and early 70s.
Schumacher not good, well how about you listen to what the likes of Berger, D. Hill or Fittipaldi , whom Senna spoke to, have said about Senna's views Schumacher.
According to all of then, Senna was a great admirer of Schumacher and was the first to see him a future great.
@darkoneforce2 No, it's not fanboy b*. Nor I'm a Senna widow (I prefer Piquet 200% and Fittipaldi +∞). I'm just a fan of golden time races and old cars. Old time racers bet their lives for true adrenalin to have a private meeting with satan. I simply hate Alonso alikes that, after the races, go cryin' home: "mamma, he stole my championship... kick him!" You don't know me, and I bet I could be your father :-)
@ceboluga The Golden Era is just B* from nostalgic fanboys, there never was one, never will be one.
And Senna, Piquet and Fitipaldi were the same type of cry baby hypocrites.
Senna whining then punching Irvine for daring to pass him in '93, veto-ing Warwick from Lotus in '86, Piquet crying about Mansell in '86 and '87, Fitipaldi about R. Peterson in 1973.
So stop talking bigot (or hypocrite ) nonsense and inform yourself brazilian fanboy.
@darkoneforce2 The boy here is you, kid. Yes, there was a Golden Era. That's the reason this video is here = nostalgic fans. And they're everywhere - sports, music, arts. Sorry if my opinion begs you. Just respect, nappy needer.
@ceboluga So you're an uninformed biased old geezer.
Music and arts might be complete crap, some/ most sports might have sopping scandals, and F1 overtaking is currently inexistent due to crap cars, crap tracks and illegal blocking and chopping from the drivers.
But F1 currently doesn't lack driver talent, and some of old drivers could be whiny as hell.
(Senna, Mansell, Piquet and Prost being the top examples. )
@darkoneforce2 Ok, wise guy. You know everything... So you think that Alonso has talent, and I don't think so. He's no amazing, and I don't think you know the meaning of this word. Bye. Luck and peace.

Not hard to see why many have died at the Ring. Brilliant circuit, one of the best ever be it road or track. But it comes with a high price.

wonderful! We'll never see racing like that again.
