@version147 He's got it held over 2 strings muting the lower of the 2 strings when he wants the pitch to go up but when he wants to lower the pitch he holds down the 2 strings on the same fret and thus the sound changes without any visable evidence of him moving his hands, that's the only explination i can think up for you but i hope its right and i also hope it helps.
