@chrysabra The gkainte -as you call it - the gajda, gajde, gaita, boha, dudy, dudey, zampogna, the tulum, zukra, zaqq, askomadoura, the grosser bock, the cimpoi, torupill, piva, musette de cour, Northumbrian smallpipes, the grande bourbonnaise etc are all bagpipes. They may not be Scottish, but they all consist of pipes and a bag and are known generically in English as "bagpipes". I own no fewer than 8 sets of pipes - and there isn't a Scottish one among them.
