THE DUEL Test Drive II Porsche 959 VS Ferrari F40 on Amiga

does anyone know if there was an arcade version of duel? it was much smoother and crisp. but maybe it felt like that when i was a kid.

@scarredcobra The only one I've seen run smooth is the SNES version. Even the Genesis, Apple or the other versions I've seen were jerky. The Super Nintendo version had the latest version of TD2 way back in 1992.

But I remember some arcade machine game with a porsche 959 and it used to jump over ramps during street races. I really do not remember what it is called. @scarredcobra I know the game you're talking about. I played that a lot in MAME. I just can't remember the name but I'm sure it's a Konami game. The plot of that game starts with you the player being a prisoner and you're supposed to escape jail with a bomb strapped Porsche 959, right?

I remember you had to run away from cop cars and when you jump on a ramp in a porsche, it jumps over a train carriage and the other police cars do not make the jump and the cops crash into the side of the ramp and crash into the wall or train. Something like this. I only remember some parts as this must have been in the early 1990s. If you can find some pictures or arcade game name, that would be so cool. Amazing what we would do to rekindle our childhood!

I think it's only the PC version where you can't read the instruments. TD1 on Amiga you can read all the gauges...PC back then sucked horrible specially with the CGA 4 color videocard, lol.

I never really liked it... it reminded me of Hard Drivin', but not as good. Besides, I got 4D Sports : Driving around the same time as I got this, so Test Drive never really had a chance to impress me.

Contrary to what is normal, I think the best game of the series is the latest - Test Drive Unlimited. Most franchises get shitter as the years go past and the console zombie gaming masses take over... but not this one!

Now everyone has them... Games were stick figures and dots... I remember my computer had a 4x cd rom, 256,000 colors and a floppy disk drive and my friend was jealous of it cus his cd rom drive was only 2x.... Do u remember computer class with the grren n black screens, good old apple....

PC pales big time compared to the Amiga. For one, all the gauges in the miga version work...even the gas gauge goes empty! I don't know how many colors but is definitely more than PC's EGA 16 colors.

How, I can't believe how our standards have changed. Back in1992 or 1993 these primitive sprite graphics would have made me orgasmic because they represented such a leap forward compared to early 8-bit computers like C64.

Today some 15 year old could program a better racing game using Adobe Flash.

There are actualy racing games of today that have superb graphics but boring gameplay...TD2's race gameplay of racing against one opponent in long stretches of roads beats many of today's racing games.

That was my favorite racing game, too. I had the first two courses memorized... but beyond that it go difficult for me. :-)

By the way:

I remember a A500 murder-mystery (where you were investigating something in a house filled with unpleasant French characters. You could collect stuff: candles, ropes... there was a secret door in the cellar, and you were supposed to climb into the well outside where I always died. Anyone know what I'm talking about and remember the name of the game?

TDU is the best driving games, not without falts, but I hope they are listening everybody for TDU2: Improved physics, realistic damage, car gets dirtier with hours of play, washing, more cars (normal cars would be fine to add) weather system and time change (different seasons!) any momre ideas?

WinUAE emulator. If you buy a real Amiga you have to get the real game, a ROM won't work. If you use an emulator, the real game won't work so it's vice versa.
