I like both versions. What makes the UK a little less unenjoyable is that Clive would buzz them right in the middle of a good joke, Drew did too, but usually when they made fun of him. And no one should argue that Drew tried to get cheap laughs because Clive did too. I loved Drew's laugh and I actually liked when Clive would crack up, but I wish he would've let loose more. And the Brits aren't dull they have different taste and the Americans aren't "dumb Yanks" either. We all just want 2 laugh.
I never liked the english version, the host sounds like an unfunny asshole the english comedians are bland and the audience laugh's only at the most unfunny parts and hardly chuckled at the hilarious parts.
ryan and collin are the ONLY reason that this show has any funny moments at all, and honestly British humor is so boring, def not as good as the american version
I have watched alot of American and British comedy in my time and I can safely say that this improv variant is best suited by the American WLIIA. The British just doesn't cut it as they are more suitable for other styles of comedy.
@GiefGoldPlx mmyeah well i see the american version as a trimmed, tv show-short attention span version of their improv and the british one as more of an acting exercise, more experimental. i agree that the american one is more funny, but this one is interesting to watch too. as true improv and not something where they yell "cut, cut, cut" every scene. uh, probably.
@RedKat999 You need to realize that there are different kinds of comedy. Clive has a more dry sense of humor, which fit better with a lot of the members on the show.
@Goutetsu13 Yeah it fit with the UK cast members. But it's your opinion and I respect that. I know there is more types of comedy, I just think that Drew is funnier.
Well, don't judge the entire UK series on this one game. The UK version had a LOT of moments that really made me laugh, but they also had a lot of flops. Ryan and Colin were still honing their improv skills, but they were nearly masters at it by the time the US version came about.
i really like both versions of the show, but the american version just has better cast members. ryan and collin are great wherever they are, but wayne and whoever the fourth member is on most days are a lot better than their british counterparts. drew carey is an added bonus.
"Wayne and whoever the 4th member is on most days are better than their British counterparts????"
WHAT?! All those awful US 4th members like Kathy Greenwood ,Denny Seigel etc are automatically better than UK players like Tony Slattery, Josie Lawrence, Stephen Fry , Paul Merton, Steve Frost etc? How much of the Uk show have you actually seen?
Drew is no Clive either - especially his Godawful attempts at playing the games - ugh .
ok, maybe i shouldn't have said most. but i do believe that chip and greg more than make up for the others. and clive over drew? dear god, do you ever even watch the american version? clive is so dry, just like a lot of british humor. the only british show that i've seen that was better than its US counterpart was the office (ricky gervais is amazing).
actually, i respect the british version a lot. that doesn't mean i have to like it more than the US version though. i might have a bit of a bias because drew was the one that really pushed for the US version. so, you have your comedic preferences, i have mine. agree to disagree, maybe?
A lot of the 4th members were actually popular in the British games. Greg, Chip, Brad...They're all very talented. But honestely, I couldn't STAND Wayne. The audience didn't even laugh at his jokes, they'd only cheer.
Tony Slattery is hands down one of my favorite members of all time.
hehehe, i just got a good yummie idea, imagine him comming over to your house as a stripper... in a cop uniform. he'd be down to nuthin in seconds with me!! wooo!!
hmm, i dont like the crowd of the UK whose line, because of the few people laughing and the no noise all the way through it. i am from the UK and definately the US one is the best because everybody is cheerier.
Oh the Drew/Clive debate goes on.. I'm English so i don't know too much about Drew, but it seems he has the extrovert character which lends itself to this kind of show better. I don't have any doubts that Clive is smarter, and some of the lines he came out with were incredible. They would have been funnier if Drew delivered them, though.
That 'lame dude taking drew's place' is the ORIGINAL Whose Line Is It Anyway presenter. Whose Line Is It Anyway started over in the UK over a decade before it was noticed in the US. Clive Anderson was and always will be the original and best Whose Line presenter. Drew is just a wannabe...
Clive was okay, but a little dry. Even if you like Clive better, Drew still brought way more to that table.
Really though, it wasn't until America that you hit the dream team with regularity; Ryan, Collin, Wayne and random person to mix things up so it doesn't get stale, and Drew as the announcer(and getting involved in some of the skits too) has always been able to consistently pull out "laugh til I cry" material.
@joshieboy15 I know im responding to a 2 year old comment, but Drew was a much better host for one reason: He was actually funny. Clive was such a stick in the mud. Im not saying that the UK version was bad, but the US version was, in fact, superior. (Yes, "in fact." aka thats not my opinion, it really was superior - got more laughs, used a better and more consistent lineup of performers, and has far more fans.)
@Skope111 1.this show was drastically changed by drew and NOT for the better(i.e. the addition of writers which as we all know makes it no longer improve) 2.the british are always dull 3.having the same 4 people do the same 10 things every episode is not improve and NOT funny 4.there are more people in america then england .....and finally the shit you've been spewing is not fact and IS your personal opinion
@sevendeadly69 Actually, I listed FACTS about the US version of whose line that made it superior, what you gave was an opinion based on a few facts that don't really support your case that much. And its spelled "improv" as in a shortened form of improvisation.
