it's relatively easy to obtain this song, although somewhat laborious... all we have to do is capture the audio from several episodes where this song is played... it's an easy step then to throw everything in a multitrack mixer and simply mute the channels that have voice over the song. i am pretty sure we could get most of it in the end...

The problem is that the song is often remixed/cut in various ways to fit the scene, so even if you were to record all known instances of it you'd have to take som freedoms with it. However, I do think I found the whole song uncut from beginning to end in one of the episodes, so that's an excellent benchmark for removing the voices.

I've uploaded the whole thing (song from beginning to end with voices and noise not removed) to filefront but youtube doesn't allow links in comments so I'll have to PM the link to people.

I made a small cut of silence in the middle of it, because the music fades out at that point so you're not really missing anything except like 3 seconds of noise.

There is a fairly decent fan made MIDI of this song available around varous places, I think there is a few videos here on youtube that have it. It doesn't sound exactly like the original but it's a pretty good replica, if anyone is interested.

I finally got a response from Neil, my first mail got lost in some filter. He said that there is now way for him to release it as the situation is right now because Discovery owns the rights, but he is working on it. Let normal life resume as normal and if/when they do release a Mythbusters soundtrack, let there be rejoice.

I too have searched for this music for a couple of years now. Reminds me of the search for "Travel Channel Be a.... music" Try that YouTube search and you'll find other desperate soundtrack/score fanatics. I think Lloyd Cole/Commotions "Tell Your Sister" beginning sounds like the lead in to some old M-Busters segements.
