I wont 'hate' on Letestu because I know she and sylvie came through paris opera around the same time but there is a difference. Agnes is strictly Paris school vocabulary. Guillem is and forever will be a dance phenom. I say this because Guillem's musicality, athleticism, speed, and facility are un-matched. Its hard to compare the two because they are two completely different dancers.
what do you mean with 'if she isnt a forsythe dancer, thats a point in her favor'??find it somewhat irrelevant reaction since youre saying before that she did do a good job.and it is a piece made by forsythe !!!!?people are strange :)
i danced with forsythe forever. and i think she did super great job. and expresses the music great. i like how she takes her own risks and is off balance on that last step before the improvisation at the end. go girl!
wow and she does a triple attiude turn in the mid of that pas deux and that is a tricky spot too and at the end of the piece. GO GIRL

No I agree with the rest of the comments. Although I'm a huge admirer of Agnès Letestu, this isn't really her area of expertise. She didn't do such a bad job though, but she unbelievably excels in the classical pieces (which she can even bring to a higher level).
I am surprised that she tried this, but she did just fine. More grace and fluidity than others and less frantic jerkiness. If she isn't a Forsythe dancer, that's a point in her favor, no?
Agnes should stick with classical and Balenchine. I have yet to see a truly contemporary piece where she shines. TB09061975 hit the nail on the head. She's trying to make it too graceful and fluid with no consideration of the contrasts in speed, style, and music. I've danced this and it's really freakin' hard, but you either have it in you or you don't.
This proves that the piece was designed for Silvie Guillem because I'm sorry to say that Agnes Letestu looks listless in comparison, but I'm sure she's great in a different repertoire . This piece requires constant contrast in speed when you dance, a kind of powerful yet controlled explosion and slowness at the same time.
Maybe Agnes Letestu is too graceful for a piece like this... But she's still very great!!!!

It must take courage for paris opera ballerinas, or any ballerinas, to try this piece after Sylvie Guillem.
