A correct meaning of "itadakimasu" means it, that is, "I wish to express the gods, the person who made the raw material, the person who cooked, the raw material, and everything". "gochisousama" also mean same it.
Man I wouldn't have guessed, but Japanese live to 1) eat and 2) work. 美味しい is one of the most abused words in their language haha. It's amazing how a lot of people in Japan will call even the blandest things delicious. It's good to use for fitting in of course, but it kind of gets old, like all the bitching about how cold it is in the winter. I'm like, enough with the 'samui!!!' junk, why did you guys come to these islands if you couldn't handle it? :-P
@yuionanodesuyo Because most of them are English speakers. Why do you speak Japanese to your English friends? Unless you want to show off... if you want to practice your Japanese, get a friend who speaks it, look around online for people. I know that there are PLENTY on MANY websites that are willing to help.

Today,many Japanese don't say itadakimasu.
They start meal without any words.
Japanese are too shy to say it.

The translation of "itadakimasu" is wrong.

Dude..
But thats not a translation of a word
Thats the meaning

Yes, you are right.
But I do not want this movie to teach simply that "itadakimasu" and "gochisousama" mean "let's eat" and "finish meal".
A deep meaning : though is.
Sorry.
