The lyrics of this song make me think deeply about overthrowing the government. I don't know if that is really what the lyrics mean, but it's all I can think about every time I read the lyrics, even though I think of overthrowing the government every second of my life. Lol
This is a real heaviness, much heavier than so called br00tal bands... And with perfect depressive atmosphere this album is my favourite Godflesh cd. I'm very sad, that it isn't released on vinyl (all other albums, exept Us&Them and Hymns have the LP versions)...
Us and Them is my favourite Godflesh album ... however, I remember reading somewhere that Justin Broadrick mentioned that he was quite displeased with this album. Why? I have no idea ... nice fusion of some of the elements of their earlier albums (Streetcleaner) and the experimentation of their later works (Selfless, Songs of Love and Hate). Really blends well and stands on its own merits. Truly an impressive album.
@trollcrusher242: Definitely man! It's still to this day the only album I have ever heard that mixes metal, trip hop, breaks and drum'n'bass. Not to mention, the vision of this album is years ahead of its time. Though I love all of their albums, Streetcleaner was too just metal, while Pure was too cheesy industrial. Like you said, this is the perfect blend of literally everything.
Thanks for your kind imput on my comment above regarding the Us and Them album by Godflesh. Album indeed is my fave of Godflesh. Your imput also sums the flavour of the album up perfectly. Best wishes dude, trollcrusher242 :-)
@trollcrusher242 Yeah, Justin said that Us & Them was a step too far for Godflesh. After Hymns was released he said he hated this album because it sounded too much like a remix of a remix album. I think its Streetcleaner for the breakbeat era & its still my fav Godflesh album.
@bEATpREDATOR I don't think Justin quite hates this record than rather be a bit dissapointed or rather surprised of it due it's production beeing way too diverse from what the band usually creates but I personally have a great liking for this record;really nicely melded everything together into one single symbiotic musicianship
what a great tune here !

Love that switch at 3:42. The 'clean' guitar part is so sick... really this song is pretty chilling.

it's not just about the gorvernment , it's more like against subhumans
i like the last chorus in wich he say the only way we know is the way of the sword
it's like saying that the people would like to be ""christians" or politie citizien or live by love, but
being all risen up in violence , we just know that way
and we can't really do something different from violence
