  • @CalvinTeeKai jowls are cheeks

  • whats a jowls?

  • I still cant understand if my iguana is a male or female! its like non of the photos you showed LOL

  • WoW my green iguana is a girl and i thought it was a male so I named it buddy

  • shit i hope mine is a male :D

  • Also im sure you can tell from just looking at the iguana aswell. Most pictures of female iguana's ive seen almost look more efeminate anyway. You just have to look very closely with baby iguana's perhaps to make out suttle differences.

  • Rate my enclosure just built it for an ig my brothers friend wanted to dump out but I took in..

  • are males more agressive that females?

  • @tubatalk509 sometimes they can be more aggressive than females.like during breeding season.but my male iguana never gets aggressive, but he did bite me when we first got him because he wasn't tame, but he was only a baby.

  • Hey good vid but is there a difference between the male and females in length

  • good video thanks bro

  • god vid man, my iguana is 1,5 years old and the femoral pores is white and stick out about 2 mm. he/she is light green. i think it is a male because my female iguanas femorale pores do not stick out like that. her femorale pores almost not visable. So what do you think is it a male or female?

  • good vid

  • so i have a 5yr old ig and i think she is a female but im not sure. she dont have the big fatty pads behind her eyes she has pores under her legs but not real big. she has never laid eggs though. could that be a sign that maybe she is a he?? I am really leading toward a female. How old are they before u can really tell that they are male or female?? Please help!!

  • Thanks Mr.Binty know i know about what age you can see when inguanas are male or female. PS. You Rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • This is so true and the most accurate sexing info I've seen.. I was told that my girl was a male b/c she had horns on her nose or b/c she has a long dewlap. Well all that determines is where she may have come from. This info is right. Good job!

  • is woody a red or was he just in breeding season

  • great vid :)

  • Yo mrbinty it's blitzz1123. I sent you a message a while back about iguana things...and now that I look at it it'll cost me alot!!! So I'm willing to sell you my iguana stuff and everything for around 150$ because I need the money so 0PM me back and well negotiate

  • can some type in Story of the Chocolate Lizard, it has my iguana in that vid. from there can someone tell if he's male or female?

  • this is a very good vid with some really nice pictures lovely monsters btw:)

  • @soulessone666 TY, glad u like it :)

  • @soulessone666 my iguana has a lil yellow spot on his head. i got him when hes young and i guess he grow it and it been there for 8 moulths is he ok?

  • 0:50 love this face

  • @YogurPodrido lol yea she was mad at me and trying to show off how big and bad she thinks she is

  • Melissa Kaplan said in her book or on her website, Can't remember exactly where I read it that male Iguanas develop tiny notches at the bottom of their dewlaps. And some submissive males might not get those impressive jowls at all

  • @RidolfC well they may get holes or tares if the dewlap gets so big they step on it all the time and yea some male igs are just not as aggressive or dominant and have smaller jowls, there are also sneaker males who want to look more like females so sneak in and mate with the females when the big male igs are fighting

  • hi there, i just rescued a relatively young iguana. im not sure how old he/she is but it has signs of being a male. i'm almost positive its younger than a year, but like i said, i really have no idea. i would love to sex it, but i cant find any knowledgeable people or articles on this. can you help me out?

  • well after watching the video if you still cant tell then your ig is still to young to know for sure give it afew months then you'll know for sure cause the only way i can tell what a baby is, is by watching them in person for about an hour cause females move and act slightly differently then males but its taken me many years to know iguanas that well

  • @MrBinty1440 thanks man

  • how do you tell baby iguanas then because i mite get another baby but i want male and female i want to get them young so they gro up together so how can you tell baby igs

  • u can't not until they are about 1yo, plus is it really not a good idea to have more then 1 ig cause if u have 2 they may not like each other & if they dont they never will so it will cost u twice as much to do everything if they are a couple the male will not want u near her so you will have serious aggression problems from him & they may try to mate & they import 750,000 baby igs now without many good homes to goto plus you'll double ur vet bills too so expect to spend upto $2000 a year

  • i only have more then 1 ig cause i do rescue & education work with them but i also have to use 2 bedrooms cause Binty hates Gizmo and Gizmo now doesn't like Binty or Woody anymore so its alot of work to keep them from fighting but when Woody & Gizmo liked each other before he got the tumors he would jump in my face & chase me out the room away from her it sounds funny but its not they can send ya to the hospital in a second with those teeth cause of mating seaon

  • I jus bought a baby Iguana yesturday and they said to let him rest for the night so in the morning i picked him up and he was calm n sat on my shoulder for about 5 minutes n then jumped off n kept trying to get away. Does that mean he doesnt want 2 be bother becuause I have a 8 yr old son and I dont want an aggressive animal in the future...is it wise to leave him be or try again to let him out and walk around and what are some other foods i could feed him besides lettuce and carrots ? thankz

  • it takes longer then that, you need to give him a hidebox to fully hide and sleep in for afew days to a week or so for him to settle in cause right now he thinks your going to hurt or eat him, igs require alot of handling & care, check out my baby feeding, baby habitat & small habitat lighting videos, also taking in a baby ig part 1&2, theres a list of things you'll need at the end of the baby habatit video u need to write down, i'll email u alot more info too

  • For now i have him or her in a 20 gallon tank and 2morrow I am going to home depo and build a taller top onto it with screening so he can climb all around the tank so the length would be 2 1/2 ft , width about a ft and height probably 4 ft would that be enough room for him for a few yrs or is it best i buy a 55 gallon tank

  • afew years? even a 65 gal wide is not good for more then 1 yr. so no its still way to small it might be ok for afew months but if u build up then you wont be able to keep the heat in like with a tank, you could make it a double wide tank using another 20 gal. & break out the front glass on both then tape them together using wide brown tape just do not leave any bits of glass clean it all out & put the open ends together with tape inside & out, see my "little godzilla & cat share his tank video"

  • So should we build one thats about 6 ft tall 3 ft long and 2 to 3 ft wide becuz right now the whole tank is warm and he eats fine and i spray him sometimes when hes awake and he relaxes closer to the mist but i definately want to build one that will last him a long time

  • its always good to build the biggest you can, 6ft is fine but the cage needs to be about twice as wide as they are long to give them room to strech out if your going to build 1 that big now then if u can try for 6ft tall x 4ft wide x 3or 4ft front to back, u can use plexi or thin plywood & 2x2s but all wood must be painted with water based paint to seal it especially pine cause pine oil in wood or cleaners is toxic to igs, don't use chicken wire either it cuts toes off

  • ok thanx you helped so much and if not chicken wire is there any other type of screen so he can climb the wall

  • you can use plastic screening or mesh, or metal mesh the kind with 1/4 inch square holes or look online for plastic screening for reptiles that wont melt under hot lights its just alittle harder to keep the heat in but it the finer screen like u use in window screens can block up to 50% of the heat, light and uvb from reptile lighting the little bigger holes let more in

  • hey MrBinty tqs 4 the advise..how have you been keepin igs?

  • i've had igs for 20 yrs and done rescue for 10 now

  • how can i know my baby ig is a male or a female..they all look the same does a baby female has spike at the back of their legs.....?

  • you can't tell until they are about 1 yo or more

  • Hey Mr Binty....my iguana is gonna be 2 years of age and I have not yet experienced its breeding season..I have not had to deal with either egg laying or male aggression depending on if my ig is a male or female...when is the iguana breeding season???

  • well each go into it on their own time like people from 1yo on and season is usually from sept. to march it can start anytime in the fall or winter and usually lasts afew weeks to 3 months some get touchy to real aggressive and afew never come back out of season the rest of their life so when u see orange on your ig be very careful and not let them near your neck or face till its gone

  • ok thanks...so should i setup some dirt in a crate so when Godzilla is ready she can lay her eggs...or should i just wait for her to give signs of her ready to lay eggs.

  • oh no its early yet but also it take alot more to make an egg box they will use, its got to be alittle hidden where they want it to be and the dirt or sand needs to be pretty clean and heated to an exact temp and exact humidity or they wont use it, watch my babygirl lays 42 eggs video for more

  • they grow up fast!

  • my baby iguanas both 2 and half month old!!!

  • i can't even remember when Binty was that young lol

  • my baby girl died today at 2 years old from chocking on a mustard green or leaf

    it was sad

  • wow really sorry to hear that, thats why i tell people in my feeding videos to tare the greens into small pieces smaller then the space between their eyes so they wont choke and to rip out the stems too. also not to use wood or other substraits only newspaper or reptile carpet they can choke so easy on lose things :(

  • My iguana has 32 inches and 2 years old, is he growing good???

  • sure thats pretty good, they all grow alittle differently like people but they should grow about 1 foot to 2 feet every year until they are 5 to 6 feet long or 6 to 7 yrs old then they can still grow wider and heavier until maybe 8 to 10 yo.

  • ok i dont get it wen my mum or dad lets me hav 1 it will hav to be a surprise on what i get lol

  • yea u cant tell when they are babies what they are

  • How do you tell a male BD from a female BD. How often do they shed.

  • well i'm no expert on BDs but if you look at the bottom side of their tail at the base if there are 2 bugles on either side its a boy if theres one in the center then its a girl but you can read more at kingsnake,com/gladescs/bearded/

  • Funny story. A friend of mine just got a new girlfriend and she has a 7 year old iguana. And she was so so sure it was a male. Thanks to you i could act like a little expert and tell her that her boy was infact a lady :)

  • hahaha yep i've done that so many times over the years too

  • My vet told me years ago that the only way to tell the difference is if the iguana lays eggs or not. And since mine never did i assumed it was a boy. But by looking at this video it is completly obvious my iguana is a girl... but she is 6 years old and never laid eggs.

.. thats not good is it?

.. i guess i need to find a new vet

  • yea wow that vet is a decade behind the times on iguana info. well sometimes when all you have is a female she might make eggs during the season but will usually reabsorb & u might never know so its ok long as she has great lighting & diet check out anapsid, org for general care and to find a good reptile vet glad my video could help i've known many people who were told they had a male until an egg popped out or the ig got egg bound & either died or had an emergency operation to save it

  • hehe hey check out my videos Draggo bath & 33 pound ig bevin! i try not to use cages cause igs get to big & need alot of space & exercise so i use shelves in the window & give them half or the whole room with their megaray combo lighting & hideboxs

  • Is it possible to tell a male or female iguana when you first get them? I want to get a baby one and i want to get a female one, and i know how to tell them apart, but i heard since they're young you can't tell.

  • its very hard to tell and many people say you just can't tell and its true but i've been around them so long i can usually tell one from another if i can hold them and watch them for about 30 to 60 min. in person.

  • thanks

  • do males have larger spines?

  • on their backs? yea the taller they are the more dominant they are

  • female are usually less agressive, but males are perfectly fine, but if you dont care about that then it doesnt matter(im kindof glad i dont have a female because of un fertilized eggs.for a beginer you probably wont know if its a boy or girl because of how small it is,inles you get a big one.that isnt a very good idea though

  • $300 to $700 and most people get them done before 3 or 4 yo. then no more eggs, if u get the males fixed by then it cuts out alot of mating season aggression

  • wow thats alot ill just keep my male iguana in its cage away from females i only have one so i dont have to worry about problems

  • usually females are alittle easier but not always i've known some girls who were more aggressive then some males and when they are babies you cant tell one from another, mostly its about learning how to care for them right before getting one and igs are very complex to care for a train so you could read about them for months even years and still not know everything after 18 years i'm still learning more as research comes out

  • nice iguanas

  • Thanks

  • Hey there my friend :o)

    Wow, great video!!!

Mr.Binty is SOOOO beautiful!! He is really a handsome iguana!!

Thumbs up for your vids ;o)

  • Hey! Thanks :)

  • i think mine might be a little young to tell mine is 2years old but i beleive its a girl

  • oh ok yea could be if theres no spikes under the back legs

  • Thanks alot. I have a big ole female then.

  • haha oook cool
