Just saw this movie today, was really good, but there was just one thing that was really annoying.... in the subtitles
they kept switching back and forth between translations, like sometimes certain words, in particular merci and oui, would be translated into English, and then a minute later someone would say it again but it would be written in French, and then the next time written in English. I didn't understand the relevance of this, it clearly wasn't a mistake because they kept doing it.
by the way he is just a sergent not an "nazi officer",and officers were diffending their country as well.The waffen SS are the bad guys and they were fanatic sixteen-eighteen years old taught to hate jews since they were 6!
but the thing is this film is not historical and tarantino just wanted to make an effect with all this violance, I think it is brilliant and the actors are fantastic!

relax, it's just a movie. if anything, it has piqued the interest of people who don't know history. and now they can go do their own research. what people liked in this movie is a clear-cut enemy (nazis) and good guys (americans/allies). and they liked seeing the 'bad guys' get what they deserved. that's all. i'm an american and i would pay good $ to see a similar movie, except the bad guys are investment bankers like goldman sachs that got billions in bailout money, while sapping the economy.

I agree there this movie is pure fiction. Hitler was a pussy and a maniac. The only reason he took over Germany is because it was in a major depression and was bankrupt after World War I. He built it back up. But in reality he was building the war Machine, and he used Jews as a scape goat. Hitler did want to control the world or at least alot of it. But Hitler wasnt even German, he was Austrian. And Valkrie wasnt the only atempt on Hitlers life there were many many more attempts.

they had Austria, and Russia as friends at the beginning of the war, and every country they conquered they enlisted men from that country, and America was not a super power until after the war, plus America was fighting in the pacific as well, if America had not been fighting the war in the pacific then the war would have been over in 1943, America was in Europe for 1 year before Hitler fell, they attacked first on June 6th 1944 and the war ended almost exactly one year later.

The man is right (up until the swipe at americans.) The Wermacht was always a very proud and honor-driven army, and in a time of war thats exactly what would have been expected of the commander, he died for his country, however ridiculous his ideologies were.
Not to mention that German =/= Nazi. Also, mograf1, technically Hitler was never elected, he only got into power with a 44% of the vote. After that he seized power.
