In fact, their experimentations pales in comparison to what was done within the progressive rock scene at the time. I'm so tired of people thinking that Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath were the best bands of the time period. Jeez I wonder who it is that doesn't know squat about music...
