At the beginning of the song, it sounds like he's about to play another classical song, that I cannot for the life of me remember the name of it and it's driving me crazy. 0:17 to 0:22, anyone know? lol.
@WinglessRaven If it helps, the notes keep getting higher, then go back down the scale to the low. Alternating in the pattern he started playing them in.
@WinglessRaven You must be thinking of Greensleeves. came to my mind too. Thats actually not technically classical music since it came from the Dark Ages.
This is beautiful! I love it! hey!! Have you ever done Lucia di Lammermoor with an opera company? Quite often they use glass harp during Lucia's mad scene.
I have seen people play this kind of instrument before, but you are the only one I have seen that has played it so very well, it is very beautiful to hear it when it is played so professionally. ^.^ Take care, I look forward to hearing more from you.
i play violin and im glad i dont have to tune so many strings! And yes DragonKhana i love when the tune is perfect I spend alot of time tuning so itll be perfect!
Hatikva does sound somewhat similar, but it really is a different piece. In fact, Smetana's Moldau is more or less the unofficial national anthem of the Czech republic.
Its hauntingly transcendent.Somehow I feel Tim Burton and Danny Elfman are in the background waiting to use this in a film....beutifulThanks for bringing much joy.
well...if its done well theres nothing wrong with integrating great music commercially. The movie Amadeus brought a lot of wonderful classic masterpieces to the mainstream.
it must be so hard to keep the glasses in tune... just because of evaporation... not to mention every time you'd go anywhere you'd have to set the whole thing up again.
@offcenteredpotter =) you'll be surprised how many musicians will devote tons of time just to make their music perfect (other than practising, that is)
i profess not to know much about glass harps, but as a harpist i have to tune all 47 strings before every performance, and during every interval. and the harp is bloody heavy too.
so it all depends on what you're willing to give up for your craft ;) in this aspect pianists are probably the luckiest =p
@cutefidgety Haha, yeah, pianists have it easy. Particularly those electric ones that are always in tune. I play the violin, which only has 4 strings, so it's not so hard to tune, but I, too, have to check the tune every time I play. This one's probably a bit more difficult to keep in tune. What I really appreciate is that the tune is Perfect (as a musician, I've an ear for it). I can imagine it must be hard to get it perfect like that.

amazing work. I'm curious about the glasses: how do u transport them from one place to another?? And how do u keep the sound as clear as it is right now? do u have to clean them often?
hehe yes that what i've done but stil difficult to get the right notes. well i know how to read the music and also how to play these glasses but now all i want is to tune them hehe

Get a wine glass (with stem), wash your hands with hot water and little soap, rinse well, rub the rim of the glass with your wet finger.
The friction will make the glass resonate.

is this tempered tuning? how was it tuned, it's absolutely incredible! Great playing!
friedaflute 2 years ago 5
I use 39 glasses tuned in tempered chromatic scale.
So the range is 3 octaves 1 tone ( G1 to A4 ).
Normally I tune my instument A 440, adding less
water it's possible to tune at A 442 to play with orchestra.
Glad you enjoyed my music, all the best.

amazing work. I'm curious about the glasses: how do u transport them from one place to another?? And how do u keep the sound as clear as it is right now? do u have to clean them often?
blackshady22 3 years ago 2
All glasses are fixed to the base, for
transport I empty the glasses and cover
them with the top part of the case.
To get a clear sound you must apply the exact
amount of pressure with the fingers,it comes
with a bit of practice.
If glasses are clean they sound better and
are easyer to play, but just a little bit.
Ciao Robert

How often do you have to tune them? :)
Alfafish 3 years ago
glasses stay tuned 24 hours with water,
4 hours with wine.
ciao robert.
roberttiso 3 years ago
how do you tune them ?
issojer 3 years ago
glasses are tuned by adding water.
As you fill a glass the pitch goes down,
so every glass must have a higher pitch
than the note it will produce.
ciao Robert.
roberttiso 3 years ago
hehe yes that what i've done but stil difficult to get the right notes. well i know how to read the music and also how to play these glasses but now all i want is to tune them hehe
issojer 3 years ago
What you need is a cromatic tuner with
istalled microphone.you can buy this instrument
in any music store for 30 euro.
the tuner will tell you the exact pitch
you are playing.
roberttiso 3 years ago
a guitar tuner right?
issojer 3 years ago
A guitar tuner should have only six notes:
E A D G B E.you need a cromatic tuner
that can tell you any pitch you play.
All the best and let me know how it goes.
