He use a Yamaha Pacifica, genial , is a great guitar, I'm tired to see everyboby playin the same brands. I have a 712, with breed pickups, I really love it. Good cover, and the glasses are cool, is better tham fall down of nose, in the midle of the stage sucker.
Man talk about doing the solo like Clapton, its note for note. Its great but I wish he would have added some originality to it. Still loved it though.
@blindmellonchittlen . .that shows that he is an excellent air-guitarist .. air-guitarists, by definition, NEED to get it note -for-note so when an air guitarist attempts what he's mimed a million times, he sure is gonna nail it, as does Mr. E. here . .dude kicks ass!! Saw them in '84 and he gave the best solo ever!!!
Hey Buix. The man upstairs gave you 2 ears and 1 mouth. Try listening twice as much as you spew ignorant rants. Nobody said anyone one was a bad guitarist. I just was trying to enlighten num-nuts (and aparently you as well) on the need to learn the craft. Its this kind of ignorant attitude that is ruining Rock. Wake Up!
I cannot believe all you ass clowns. Can any of you see the forest for the trees? What is this? A my dog is better than your dog cyber cat fight? All these guitarists are awesome. Emmett, Morse, Clapton, Schon, Page and on and on. Just enjoy them for what they are. Unique and individual. All with their own patented sounds and styles. All of them absolutely intense. Spare me the nauseating musical Siskell and Ebert reviews. Sorry to rant but you all could f up a wet dream with your bitching.
Music is in the soul? You can use that excuse not to put the real work into learning your craft (gift). Go ahead and be ignorant. It will only take you so far musically and there will will stay. I prefer to explore all the avenues of the soul of music.
OK just so you all know. Real Musicians read music. Wannabes don't. Wannabes can make it in the music industry but real musicians make the music industry. Its called learning your craft.
Rik was not reading music he had notes about each song and told of history of the song between each of the songs. Rik is still preforming his original work and has started a new hard rock band called Airtime. Last year Rik and the rest of the band Triumph were inducted into the Canadian Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
buddy - if youd fliping TAKE a second to look "wonderful tonite", youd see he is GLUED to the music stand for the whole song ... and parts of other songs too...
and of COURSE all those other things you said about him!! thats what makes this SUCK so bad
you have to...sing...and play guitar...so you cant like walk around with the mic, limiting how much you can move. clapton was a guy Rik's liked for a long time I'm sure he has known the songs for a long while. Rik isnt doing 'tons' of these gigs either, just a few. He plays his own stuff way more often than the clapton gigs which he does just for fun. If you read anything about Rik and kept up with him you would know this.
Don't know why you would judge him for reading off a stand... hes undoubtably a thousand times better than you will ever be at guitar. If your judgement is a result of jealousy then so be it... but keep it to yourself. A real musician would understand why another musician does the things he/she does.
Hi. I get Rik's newsletter. He's doing about a dozen different projects at any given time.
He has a career. He teaches. He has four kids.
He does clinics sponsored by Yorkville. I have a 1000 tunes approx, and I use music stand and sheets too. So what? How often can you keep all thousand fresh?
Some tunes I do once a year. Critics keep forgetting that no one is perfect. Relax. Enjoy what's going on. Obviously someone liked it, or there would be no bookings.
probably the most rockin in this series of posts - still lame tho - wtf? -a clapton tribute-band? what next - abba? acdc? beachboys?i love everyone buried in the music stands and lyrics in the other videos - pathetic
why not a tribute to one of the most influential guitarists ever....to put clapton in the class of ac dc and abba just shows you are ignorant to music and it's history
get real - check all the videos of same - the band is shit - all reading "music", and emett eading lyrics - ridiculous - clapton would be embarrased, was my point - bet HE'S not doing any "emmet" - and yes, i agree clapton is one of the greats - CLAPTON should be playing "clapton" . not this crap . and WHY would he do a WHOLE NITE of it??
and what happens when he is tired of this? (cuz clearly he's tired of his OWN songs...) - so then what, a Jimmy-tribute? (was my point...) - check the other video posts - LAME
First of all this was a small community event . People paid 13 dollars or something like that and that got them into each event of the week long festival which included bands like Thornley , Jeff Healey , lahee, Rides Again , David Wilcox..... ect. So Rik was asked bye the community to preform. Rik had just done a Clapton thing with An orchestra as a side project .
who cares - this not ONE gig - he is doing TONS of these - get real - this is basically an agent said "hey rik - i wont/cant book YOU - but um, if you had a TRIBUTE band!! sure!!!" ....
all those other band you mention were doing their OWN stuff - so why not just do a COUPLE of songs in "tribute to the Master"??? cuz nobody wanted to PAY for "emmett doing emmett"...betcha
Rik Emmett plays a Robert Johnson tune in the style of Clapton. And he kicks ass, as usual. See kids, this is what happens when you get into music and stay away from booze and drugs: Your playing only gets better and you get to keep your money!
