  • This is quite a great video which shows you exactly what you need to do. Awesome!

Is this much different on a 95 Acura Legend though? Thanks!

  • @MegaPixElation No, it should be very similar.

  • @TheCousinDan Thanks a lot! You were right. It is almost identical to it. Thanks again!

  • within my relay the main relay is covered by a cover so it cant be fixed maybe.

  • @dgfia You may have to go the junk yard/ebay/autozone route...Sorry to hear of your difficulties.

  • Dude there are no diodes that can tell the coil when to pull the contacts... These are resistors

  • How about a 98 F150 that has intermittent turn signals. They don't always come on, and if they do, it's not always front and back. But it rarely seems to be the same thing twice in a row. Ideas?

  • @perpetualmotion192 Try tracing the wires in the harness and use a test light to find out where the short is. If that doesn't work then maybe you can replace the actual switch...those are notorious for going bad.

  • @TheCousinDan ...okay thank you. i will try to change the flasher plug in unit first. i think its under my dash by the fuse box.

  • My flasher blinks real slow and i replaced the tail light bulbs brand new. But no change. Any ideas?

  • @thegreatecb Open up your relay and turn the little dial until it speeds up to your liking.

  • @TheCousinDan ...Well, blinkers used to work fine. But then my passenger side tail lights stopped working. Thought it was the bulbs so i replaced them to no avail. I'm just trying to figure out why with new bulbs, still no blinker.

  • @thegreatecb Try tracing the wires in the harness and use a test light to find out where the short is.

  • Thanks for the info god bless!!!

  • Funny that I have a 1987 924s with a bad relay. first video i play and its a 944! nice car man, these things take a beating and whenever something breaks down, it usually just needs cleaning! german engineering!!!

  • @iraqifreak Amen brotha! You understand!

  • Funny that I have a 1987 924s and the wiper motor relay is going crazy, trying to fix it and i searched for relay repair... and the first video that pops up turns out someone repairing a relay on a 944! nice car man, these things take a beating and whenever something breaks down, its usually something that needs cleaning! german engineering!!!

  • thanks man.... ya you are the only one online.

  • MOTHER FUCKER FIX THE SOUND!

  • Great video, very helpful. I will try it tomorrow.

  • My right turning signal blinks faster then the other one and theres no light bulb burnt out.

  • @pv305 is there a regular running tail light burnt out?

  • nope didnt work for me, must be the relay is totally shot, I hear it click once and the signals just stay on, off to walmart:)

  • thanks...just tried it, going to see if it works......the relay didnt look corroded at all, but cleaned it anyway

  • what if the light only blinks on 1 side of your car, i replaced both turning signal lights the front and the rear, still wont blink on the right side, do you have any suggestions?

  • @odoctorphil Check the grounding of the actual light socket. If that is ok then take a test light and follow the wires back to the source, on the side that is not lit, until you get some power...then replace wires/parts as necessary.

  • Help!!! My turn signal only works when I'm not using the headlights! When I turn on the headlights, the left signal light just stays on! And when I use the signal (with the headlights) it clicks once and stops. Any suggestions?

  • @YeaKevin That sounds like a switch problem. Do you headlights turn on with the same control arm that you switch the turn signals with? After the relay it should be a direct line to the headlight or the turn signals respectively so the problem should be before that. Really you just need to do some diagnostic stuff. I hate to say that, but I really can't help you more without being there with a voltage meter.

  • @TheCousinDan @YeaKevin I'm having the EXACT same problem with my Mustang 2000 V6

Turn lights work whilist headlights are off, but when On, the right turnlight works, but the left one clicks and stays active.

Also, the left turn light (yellow bulb) is brighter than the right side one w/ headlights on.

I'm thinking it could be the Turn signal flasher, because no fuses are blown :/

    What do you think Doc?

  • I have a Mercedes E200 '96, and the signals are lighting up but they aren't blinking. Could you help me with this? Thanks!

  • @ooooush Yeah, I think what you need to do is try to clean it like I do in the video. If that doesn't work then I'd try to find one in the junkyard to replace it with. If your car isn't in the junkyard then get on a Mercedes forum and ask if anyone has a replacement. You want to avoid the dealer at all costs (they cost you more than anywhere else). However you can get universal replacements at autozone...in fact, I have one that I don't need, if you would like I can sell it to you cheap.

  • @TheCousinDan I actually fixed it by wriggling around the indicator a couple dozen times. Weird but it worked? I think it's because the car hasn't been driven for like 2 years until recently and it was jammed or something. But thanks for the advice bro, I'll keep it in mind.

  • @ooooush Very good, glad I could help.

  • Hey thanks alot!!

  • good video on how to clean the contacts in a relay. or any electrical contacts for that matter.

  • hi do u know if i can do something with relay switch because i put LED light for my turn signal n now it blinks fast...

  • @lexusfan100 Hmmm...interesting problem. Is the new LED supposed to blink on it's own? You may have a problem where the relay is expecting more resistance so it it misguided and clicks too fast. But I've never heard of that happening so sadly I cannot give you a definitive answer. Do let me know if you figure it out though and I'll add it to my arsenal.

    Thanks for asking,

    Dan

  • KInda like a tattoo machine..ha.

  • Hey, I really like the videos! I don't have a problem but I'm a big nerd so its fun for me to watch these videos, thanks a lot! Keep it up!

  • @theeebest From one nerd to another, thanks, I appreciate it!

  • I forgot to ask another question. when i signal and turn the lights turn off once i'm driving straight, lately the my left signal light hasn't been turning off after i turn, I have to switch it off once i'm driving straight. only the left does this and it won't switch itself off unless i make a nearly complete turn like a U turn.

  • @sweetXricerockets That is a problem within the axis of the steering column. There are little pins in there that catch a shut-off-clip every time the wheel turns a rotation in the opposite direction of the illuminated turn signal. One of those two components may be broken or missing.

  • I have a question, my left signal light blinks real fast and my right signal light blinks kind of slow. the left blinks 3X faster than the right, whats the problem?

  • @sweetXricerockets check your actually light bulbs on the outside of the car. 99% of the time the problem is a burned out light. That fast clicking is actually a notification system for you that a bulb is burned.

  • The indicators on my scooter either go but dont tick, tick for a little while and then stop ticking or they simply dont work properly at all, only flickering for a few times mainly when the scooter is being ridden. Could this be the relay aswell?

  • @ndogg360 I would venture to say that it's not a relay problem, it could be, but I think it's a poor connection somewhere along the wiring harness that leads to the light itself. If it flickers especially when the scooter is being ridden, that tells me that the wire that is loose or grounded poorly is being tossed around by all the movement of riding.

  • lol fucken hell, this was my last resort.. and it worked , thanks heaps dude !.. :D

  • Hey man I have to say thank you, I have a family with 3 kids and had no idea where I was going to come up with the money to fix my signal. I found your video and followed it step by step and fix my car with 20 minutes and exactly no money. Thank you and my kids say thank you

  • @1kierite You are very welcome! Thanks for telling me this, to know that my videos are helping real people is very inspiring.

  • my hazard lights work but when i put the turn signal on they don't work. all i hear is buzzing but no clicking or flashing lights...could it be the same problem?

  • haven't ran into this problem yet but good to know people post these kind of vids

  • Thank you for answering my question ,i will clean it and try it.

  • My signal some times goes, then stops then goes, could it be the same problem?

  • @elvismanrocks Yes, filthy or corroded connections are notorious for causing strange intermittent problems.

  • Thank you for your advise ,i finally got my hands on the relay that was right under the brake release ,and i did exactly the way you showed and bingo it's working like new.You save me some money. Thank you. Good work.

  • Hey Cousin Dan, Thank you for the instructions on the relay. In all the learning and experience in 30 years I never knew relays. Wow, it must be because old school cars had very few; ignition points. Still. I may have others about my wife's Caravan in the future. Keep doin the good work.

  • good job !

  • Thanks for the help. I was looking for the flash relay in all the wrong places. Keep up the good work

  • Thanks everyone for the kind remarks, I'm glad I could help. Remember, I accept video ideas so if you want to know how to do something just shoot me a message.

  • Both the signal n the hazard lights work but when I put everything back together the turn signals won't work but the hazard light does

  • @silent8711 I would say then that your problem exists in the control module itself then (switch arm beside the steering wheel).

  • I feel the clicking on the hazard lights

  • @silent8711 Both the turn signals and the hazard lights use the same relay for flashing. If your relay is consistently clicking then most likely you have a short between the relay and the actual light bulb. Do the lights come on at all?

  • @silent8711 It doesn't have a label on the fuse/relay box cover? If that's what you mean then have someone go inside the car and click the turn signal on and off while you listen to the box and put your finger on each one until you feel/hear the clicking. unless it is really gummed up inside you should still be able to find which one it is through the clicking. Let me know what happens!

  • i have a quedtion mines doesnt have the label i have a vw passsat 2000 were can it be

  • You my friend are a genius......... thanks ........ and your solved my $ 15.00 problem , which would have costed me $100 east at any service department .

  • Yes , you fix the porblem in this car. bet you that can't fix the turn signal in Jeep grand cherokee laredo I dis same shit but nothing , check all lights buls ok , flasher ok , lever swicht ok

  • @dornier2828 Another problem I have seen in the past is when the thin control arm that the contact point is mounted to developes a crack in it. This means that when the electro magnet pulls it in to make contact the actual point doesn't have nearly the pressure it did without a crack in the arm. You can try putting a drop of solder over the crack to try and firm it up (I would rough up the surface first) or you can try putting a drop of Gorrilla(Rhino) glue over it. Hope that works for you!

  • Great video! Useful and informative.

  • thank you for the vid, it helps a lot
