i have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old GM Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
Indeed Ledwinka would've. Now that you mentioned it, the Tatra does seem too high end to be compared with the VW Beetle. Probably more Mercedes-Benz, price wise.
I've heard over the years that air-cooled engines are rather noisy. I suppose they would be if revved up like so. This one doesn't sound so bad. And while cruising, the noise from the engine is drowned out by the wind noise.
Being inside the car is amazing, at any speed. the only thing that you can hear inside is a very decent growling from the engine which sounds awesome. You have to be inside one to feel the magic... Ok that was too much : )

Except for Jay Leno, I don't know of anyone who has a Tatra. His is a t87. It's too bad they were never officially imported to the USA. They would've been great competitors for the Corvair, which has an air-cooled boxer 6 engine and the VW Beetle, with the air-cooled boxer 4. This one would probably be the most powerful and fastest in the country, with a V8 engine.
Tatra and beetle? Hans Ledwinka would have killed you, lol. But yes, Ferdinand Porsche indeed copied the plans from Tatra and implemented them into the VW Beetle. But neverheless, it is impossible to compare a tatra to a VW beetle!!! Tatra is the czech Rolls Royce, whereas the Beetle is the, yes, beetle.

There are a few in the UK, all personal imports. I think your figure of 8 grand is spot on, at least for one in top notch nick. But very rarely seen on the market. the later 613 is cheaper and still has that lovely motor with more power
Nesouhlasím:) 603ka má být černá. Protože má na sobě hodně chromu, tak k ní černá pasuje nejvíc. Bílá je druhá v pořadí a fialový apod. to není vůbec ono. U 613ky chromky mám na barvy stejnej názor, u novějších 613 už nemám černou tak vyhraněnou. Ale když 603, tak pořádná "komunistická" černá! :D
