  • The only thing worse than getting a beat down like that is getting a beat down with a retarded haircut.

  • The Karate guy was being nice and didn't "KIA!!!" when he threw the first punch. Otherwise, the Gracie fighter would have been killed instantly.

  • @websslinger LOL!!! HAHHAHA. are you sure you saw the video?

  • @fearthenightraids I train in BJJ, I was being sarcastic.

  • Funny I never saw a gracie Challenge with real Judokas and Samboists...only mcdojo martial artists and wrestling dudes. And with the wrestling dudes in gracie Challenges always had to play by BJJ rules....WOWW what a surprise they always won! This video is no surprise. McDojo´s Black Belts and all others are pure waste of time.

  • Karate was the most overhyped bunch of useless crap ever sold to the gullible american public!

  • @talon115 Close, the most useless in my opinion is TKD haha.

  • @talon115 there is no generic karate system,it can be anything from mcdojo to kudo(mma in a gi).In russia youll find karate that spar in regular classes harder than any mma school and include wrestling and ground and pound.

  • guy is Karate. Very nice figth.

  • ¿Quien era y de que estilo era el contrincante de uno de los hermanos Gracie?

  • @borquechris do you know the triangle choke? Your groin is not in a position near the opponents mouth. If anything, a bite would land on the leg. Your groin will be positioned closer to the opponents shoulder. Also, proper pressure makes it impossible to move your head, much less open your jaw and apply biting pressure

  • Awesome video oss

  • the opponent is Judoka. BJJ is better than Judo

  • @SirRediazVh That is not a judoka.

  • @BlackShinobiShozoku can't you see the short-black belt that he's wearing? if that's not a judoka than what martial art is that?

  • @SirRediazVh short belts is not something to tell martial art by. There's many judoka that wear long belts. Look at how he fights. He tries to run away from grappling. He tried to do a karate straight punch and a kick check. He fights like a Karateka.

  • @SirRediazVh Are you sure? He looks more like a Karate stylist to me. The first thing he does is throws a punch and a front snapping kick. Doesn't look like a Judo to me.

  • The Japanese thought the leg-triangle choke wasn't that great of a real combat technique becuase the person being choked could easily BITE the attacker in the crotch.

I saw a great opportunity for the guy on the bottom to BITE the dude clubbing him on the head at about 1:43 as the attacker presented his arm for a RNC.

I mean, if you're gonna club someone on the head, possibly causing brain damage, certainly you should be able to bite them to keep that from happening?

  • @bourquechris Check out this video, Professor Draculino addresses some of this kind of stuff.Draculino BJJ - Provoking a Giant - Part 2 : Ball Grabbers

  • @KillatWill23 Thanks. Checked it out. Interesting stuff.

There's a whole martial art devoting to biting (and eye gouging)--The Filipino art of Kino Mutai. Not surprisingly, it heavily relies on grappling. Regarding the leg triangle, Draculino points out the balls are inaccesible but it seems the inner thigh is still quite available, no?

And in this vid., that arm really did present itself (pretty much right in the guys mouth already) nicely.

  • @bourquechris The Draculion vid is awesome.

  • @bourquechris Anyone who has 1 to 2 months of training (probably less) knows they can bite and be bitten. Same goes for groin attacks and eye attacks. That's what BJJ is about. It's about getting a dominant position and killing the opponent's weapons (limbs, teeth ect) by simply knowing what to do when the opponent tries. BJJ may or may not be the best art, but it's the best weapon delivery system. You control your opponent and you can do anything.

  • jiu jitsu won ne? post more videos of fights like a lot of gracies obliged if you can appreciate even more

  • that was at the old gracie academy on carson. blvd....the gracie rep is joe pardoel. might have just gotten his purple belt then. the fight was in the downstairs fishbowl room. this was around 1996. m.

  • this looks like a karate school, cuz the gi looks different, if you train bjj you can tell thats not a bjj gi.

  • Please post up the full videos and the other Gracie challenge matches that you have. You have no idea how valuable these are now.

Having said that, I wasn't at all impressed with this Joe Pardo guy, he could have finished the fight much more gracefully specially given that he was the much bigger guy.

  • @Gavanshir He wasn't that much bigger. In fact they look to be in the same weight class. As far as a graceful finish, the guy challenged the school and the family. He knew what he was getting into, and the best way to get people to not challenge you again is to apply a little brutality.

  • The guy and Rorion were talking cool so it's not like this guy was talking smack. The BJJ fighter take it personal. Someone comes to your school and wants to challenge your style. They want to make sure that you understand that its not by luck they won. Rorion asked the guy if he wanted to try again and he does. I'll post the whole video up later....

  • If more Gracie challenges were as brutal as this one, there would be less of them. I'm mean, the Gracies are going in there against people who are going to do their best to knock them out. What do these guys have to worry about? Tapping out when they get caught in a bad position. I say, if you want to challenge the Gracies - you get what you get. They guy looked arrogant. I'm glad he got a beat down.

  • Wondering how bad the challenger must have disrespected the family for John to finish him with those vicious strikes?!

  • I have other videos but I dont have a way to transfer it to computer. I have a few that I havent seen up. Royce practicing for his Mark Kerr fight (which didn't happen) BJJ vs luta livre video tape fight which one guy took a bite out of the other guys ear. One which is suppose to be Gokor Chivichyan top student back at the time, rolling with some students. Vitor in Greco Roman wrestling matches. There was one video I wanted to get but was never able to.....

  • It was a self-defense instructor give a seminar about his fighting style at some fair or carnival I believe. The instructor placed a challenge to the crowd. One arm was lifted up and it so happened to be a Macho brother. I always wanted to get that one but my connect called it quits and I lost contact with him. If anyone of you know or have the video.....let me know.

  • uhhh ow?

  • I love this classic stuff! Put up some more!

  • I'm almost positive this is Joe Pardo. He was the old school gatekeeper after the early UFC's came out. Guys like this in the video would come by the Gracie academy wanting to fight Royce for obvious reasons. Instead of them getting straight access once Royce gained his fame, they would have to go through Joe first. IIRC there are about five of these matches on video with Joe in it. Good old days of VHS ;). Thanks for uploading Voldo!

  • idk of what i up with these guys that go and challenge the gracie's & think that gracie jiu jitsu is not effective and can give them a good beating on the gracie's, those guys are so dumb of challenging them, i love gracie jiu jitsu & how it is effective in a street fight situation.

  • former gracie academy in torrance ca, carson st

  • It looks a lot like their usual studio in all the other gracie challenge videos.

  • Um...any proof that this is a Gracie school? Who is the person fighting, which school? Can't just put that up without verification.

  • @thecardmonkey This video was edited so you wouldn't have to hear all the talking. If you listen closely, you can hear Rorion Gracie talking. I just left the talking out right before the fight start because it was too long. I have a few other Gracie challenges that I haven't seen posted up so I might put those up.

  • @voldo12434 Probably a good idea to leave at least some of the talking in. It just makes us look like thugs when you don't have the intro. Also, why is the student in the vid not wearing his gi? Was this explained in the edited section? Thanks for the response.

  • @thecardmonkey its the gracie academy ,LA in the mid 90s, from the similarity to the other vids and rorions voice in the background, its pretty obviousI wouldnt be too impressed with a big lad like that taking so much work to finish a useless opponent.Looks like rick migliarese but rorion calls him john at end.maybe john burke, not sure

  • @thecardmonkey If you don't recognize that room, watch other Gracie challenge videos. It is the same room that Royce fought Jason Deluca. The sea green mats are a dead give away as the entire Gracie Academy in Torrence is matted with them. It is kinda the school's trademark.

  • @thecardmonkey I don’t know who the karate stylist was, but the other fighter was Joe Pardo, who was a student at the Gracie Academy from 1993-2001. Pardo, was known for having fought in several of the “Gracie Challenge” matches and even fought in the UFC once. If you listen closely at 0:44, and 1:52 - 2:06 you can hear Rorion Gracie and a few others call him by name several times.

  • @barrettokarate i recognise joe and wouldnt be the least bit impressed with the standard here.He should have killed that guy in less than a minute and just shows the gracies were holding stuff back at that stage. That was just a headlock with no torso control, anyone would escape it with ease and never let him up again.Any decent college wrestler with bit of boxing would destroy joe at that stage.
