  • Wasn't it Vlad who said

that the best thing in life is to crush your enemies,

see them driven before you and to hear

the lamentation of their women ?

  • @Hungaroctonul When I said his people turned on him I meant the people in HIS time.

  • @Hungaroctonul Those boyars were Wellechians. Besides Vlad was never secure on the throne during his third reign. kind of explains why it only lasted a few weeks.

P.S. you might want to read the comment right below the one to which you responded.

  • Dracula was many things. Yes, he was ruthless, and a tyrant, and a killer. But I also understand he had a terrific singing voice. He was also a a fighter for his country and his faith, he brought law and order to Wallachia (albeit in the most ass way possible) and reminded the boyars that they owe their lands and status to HIM only. Plus, he wasn't afraid to go into battle with his warriors.

  • @HarbingerOfBattle But let us not forget, that in the end his own people turned on him.

  • He didn't go into exile. He was put in jail by the traitor king of Hungary.

  • Vlad is still alive.

  • @RipperRedDead What exactly do you mean that Vlad is still alive? Just asking.

  • @DarkGothist Come on, everybody knows that Vlad is still alive. His rests were never found and he will return some day. HE WILL RETURN TO RESTORE ORDER. :)

  • gotta love how they shroud the whole burial of Vlad in mystery...

  • the real deal version of "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!" :))

  • 'Man of the people' that guy says.. which people? Certainly not his own. He held a feast for all the peasants of the surrounding villages and turned around and burned them all alive.

  • @sirlordwhitman

get your facts right yank! He didnt held a feast for "all the peasents" as you put it. The feast was held for all the cripples. During the feast, he had his guards select the real cripples and took the outside. The rest, left inside were false cripples and beggers. that after getting drunk stopped acting, so they revealed themselfs and Vlad burned them all. Legend has it public wells had gold mugs and they never dissapeared, that's what i call ORDER and JUSTICE!

  • @icemanicky There's no doubt in my mind that fear tactics worked in his society, especially when you have have thousands of rotting disemboweled corpses on skewers for all the public to see. However, there's a line between fear and respect. Given the fact that he eviscerated, skinned, mutilated, and boiled, not only men, but women for none other than pleasure; If he were to fall, would his people have helped him back up or kill him as he lay?

  • @sirlordwhitman

Facts are exagerated to make the show sell, show beacouse i can not call it a documentary as it's too subjective and lacks historical objectivity. He didnt punish them for pleasure or power... the land was filled with thieves, rapists, corruption etc... he set examples for those who were not honest. Normal folks saw him as a saviour. And replying to your question: He led his troops against the turks..his troops were mainly peasents, would have they

  • @sirlordwhitman

followed him to death in battle if it were the case you stated? Would they have fought an enemy 3 times bigger if they have not trusted and loved their leader? I don't think so... remember that in those times, without the love and respect of your folk, as a leader/ruler/king you couldn't wage war and win..

  • @sirlordwhitman

.and remember another thing: All of the great romanian Rulers/Kings were in front of their soldiers at most battles, leading thrm DIRECTLY, not by orders via messengers, but in the front line, in heat of the battle

  • @BillRomoIsABeast

Maybe so, but Hitler was arguably less cruel than Vlad Tepes. At leas his gas chambers got the business done much faster than impalement.

  • Of course Dracula's body isn't there. He resurrected three days later after his death.

  • "The Silk Road and the Legend of Vampire Den" go to facebook and search for it wont show up on Google search. The lost Chinese history.

  • is not a white horse but on a red horse who was given a great sword.

  • @BillRomoIsABeast Did I say you support Hitler? I did not mean to imply that. What I tried to say, was that some of the reasons you said Vlad can be remembered as a hero in Romania are extremely similar to the reasons neo-Nazis in Germany give in order to treat Hitler as a hero.

Yeah, Hitler's goal was power - that's it? You mean, fighting for Germany in WWI in the trenches, then seeing Germany's territories reduced, had nothing to do with any of his campaigns... Does not compute. Logic error.

  • @BillRomoIsABeast Again, since the comparison with Hitler was already made: Hitler's campaigns were to bring Germany back to former glory; Hitler appealed to similar people, especially veterans and unemployed; nationalistic; propaganda emphasised foreigners negazive impact on Germany; Russian POWs exploited for labour; did you really not understand you just defended Hitler with your statement? As though supporting someone who is a bit crazy is okay if you know where they stand?

  • He pays sick people to give other people sickness??? gross

  • @Draculaurafave9 but smart

  • Sometimes I do that with my horse's shoes to confuse the neighbors.

  • For Romania to celebrate this sick fuck makes about as much sense as Germany celebrating Hitler

  • @starguard

"this sick fuck" is one of the men that for over 600 years fought against muslims trying to conquer these lands. "this sick fuck" is one of the reasons i don't pray to allah and i'm european and helped keep my 2000 year romanian/european heritage.

  • @starguard

Yes, he will always be our hero, "this sick fuck" is the reason i live the way i live today, and i thank him, , his grandfather Mircea the Elder, Stephan the Great, Michael the Brave, and everyone up to Prince Alexander John Cuza, King Carol I, King Ferdinand and Marshall Antonescu...but what the fuck would you know about heritage and history, you're american, and i bet you're not of european descent either, so STFU and eat your sorry version/copy of the HAMBURGer sandwich

  • @icemanicky Yeah, we Americans are dumb, especially the ones who created THIS documentary. It's probably 99% B.S. anyway because the so-called experts doing the commentary are American. We Americans just need to stop making silly historical programs and eat more McDonalds, because we're American. -rolling eyes-

  • @sirlordwhitman

it's more of a tv show than a documentary, over-exagerating shit with american "a la Cops" speech diction. Even BBC stopped making good docs ... it's all about the ratings now. If you wanna learn at least the patial truth, read a fuckin' history book, OR, wikipedia is a good place to start... but don't judge a man's methods of keeping his people and country free in 1400's and don't judge a nation for being gratfull to a majestic historical figure citing toilet-TV

  • @icemanicky Right, just as you are judging one's level of intelligence by what part of the world their from. You come off as an Anti-American radical extremist with potential terrorist tendencies. No respected, well-educated person from any nationality would take you seriously in that regard alone.

  • @sirlordwhitman

"Anti-American radical extremist with potential terrorist tendencies"

for disagreeing with your BS and insulting national hero, a country, and the nation that considers that man a national hero.

So, if i don't kiss american ass i'm a terrorist right?:)) I don't give a shit about the US, get it? Calling romanians hitleristic while you still had segragation in the 60's is kinda dumb.

You just proved you're an idiot, american or otherwise, withh your logic = Q.E.D.

  • @icemanicky I've got nothing against Romanians or Romania. I don't stereotype a large group of people and say they are ALL a certain way. For me it's on an individual basis. That said, if you were as well informed on US history as you are with Romania, not all 'yanks' were for segregation just as not all 'yanks' were for slavery. If they were, we wouldn't have a black president in office today. You just need to to find more constructive outlets to express your anger is all.

  • @icemanicky I stand corrected....

What if Hitler won the war. I'm sure there would be tons of people just like you running around saying. "Hitler was a GREAT MAN, He helped us clean up europe by killing off the Blacks, Jews, Gypsies,Poles and othere "parasites of the world". He is the reason I live the way I live today.. in a world free of these "unclean ingrates"

Vlad was a Barbaric Murderer (period). Historians even created the monster "Dracula" from the things he did

  • @starguard

Then why did your american heroes of WW2 bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Why didnt you just accept Japan rulling?

Dear american, unlike you, i do not have double standards. Vlad defended his country as best as he could for the 1400s just like your leaders in the '40s. At least Vlad led his army by the sword, not just on the map.

and btw, Hitler did not kill blacks as they were verry, verry few in Europe at that time, History is written by the winner, in case you didnt know.

  • @starguard

watch this (pressing CC to activate the subs): watch?v=ZXr6MaVBiiU

if you wanna know about who Vlad really was

  • 3 people got impaled through their anus.

  • Brutal, he hit him in the nose.

  • Highly biased. Large portions of Vlad's biography conveniently "forgotten", in order to fit the plotline. Nothing even close to the real historical personality. Shame.

  • His wife jumped when the Turks faked a letter to Vlads wife claiming that he'd fallen in battle...Get the details right for Vlad's sake

  • @MegaLadyvengeance thanks. that's cuz some of us aren't totally stupid. by modern standards he was cruel. he was also a brilliant leader, who was totally outgunned and won ANYWAY.

  • @ajlee35 shut up or I'll impale you.

  • So when the muslims want to conquer a few lands it's: "Stay out of our land!" but when the europeans take away land from other people it's normal?

  • there's a widely used short saying in romanian: "unde esti tu Tepes Doamne?!" meaning "oh Lord Tepes where are you?!" and it's commonly used when suffering an injustice of any sort... wishing for him to come and undo the wrong suffered...you see, his name has become synonimous with law/justice/order.

  • Comment removed

  • He was a very clever warrior and leader. You have to remember how lawless and brutal the times were back then. Life was cheap. In order to create law and order in a lawless era, brutal tactics of impalement were very effective and required, to instill enough fear into the masses that stealing, murder, thievery, cheating and so on, was not even an option.

  • VLAD RESPECT FOR PROTECTING EUROPE AGAINST ISLAMIC HORDES WANTING TO INVADE. RESPECT VLAD

  • @DjTommyKx give credit to the austrian empire for defending against ottomans in the 1700s too

  • I'm chinese canadian, totally unrelated but vlad is an astounding leader. He really knows how to get something done. But history goes to show even the clever and determined have a limit to their capabilities. I really wish there was more about how he died.

  • i like the part at 12 seconds in- "Brutal tactics!" *smack*

  • HAHAAHA, WELL LOOK AT THAT, AN ORTHODOX PRINCE OF A SMALL MOUNTAINOUS COUNTRY SCARES OFF THE big bad coward sultan. HAHAHAAH. VLAD RULES!!!!!!!

  • @Varangian1915 : Vlad's methods were extremely effective! That "forest" of 20,000 impaled corpses would have been the ultimate fear tactic.

  • well, at least they mentioned he's a hero for us

  • his army must've got sick of making impaling poles

  • ok so he was sent to the turks but it didn't tripped him out real cold blooded

  • Vlad is a hero for all Romanians. Defender of faith, christianity and Europe.

He was a little extreme with all that impalement of muslims but we dont blame him :)

  • Dam history you scary.

  • I'm Romanian, Vlad is a hero for me. Period.

  • @alex4ucj

No wonder, Eastern Europe is filled with nationalist chauvinists.

  • @GodOfTheInternets Actually in romania he is still considered a hero and defender of his country.

  • haleluia!!! someone has grown a brain

  • fuken muslims always trying to invade foriegn countries, causing conflicts

  • Though i did enjoy the Documentary they didn't talk about how he and his little brother Radu were sent to the Turks to be held in captivity and then when he returned home Vlad unleashed his wrath upon the turks.

  • Vlad, a PRINCE, a HERO... Long live the legend of DRAGAN

  • I even consider Vlad Dracula a hero too because the way he defended his Christian faith and his country Romania. Despite his blood thirsty ways of killing. I even have a t-shirt of him.

  • Vlad was such a badass.
