  • Best MI-24 start up video on youtbe. You can even see where the pilot shuts off the APU at 4:02 . awesome.

  • @009ijn APU= Auxilary Power Unit. It's that horrible sounding engine you hear running Before the actual engines start & the rotors start spinning. If you listen carefully at 4:02 you can hear him shut down the APU after he runs up the two turbines. The APU provides power for the Helicopter until the Engines are started & the Engine Generators are running. Aircraft that don't have their own APU usually need to be plugged into one on the back of a truck or something to start their engines.
