@MrIzman, thanks for the info, but I honestly couldn't care ONE iota less HOW the sketch came about. It's simply, in my opinion, tragically unfunny. It's like taking the bunker scene from an absolutely brilliant movie like Downfall, and making it about Hitler not getting the double-tall, extra frothy carmael macchiatto and almond biscotti he wanted, or his hockey team losing the big game. I wish Bruce had left it to the answering machine...

@MrJett1971 Actually, that is the entire basis of the sketch. Kevin and Bruce were sitting around, writing a sketch. Bruce went to get a call, that turned out to last half an hour. Kevin worked a bit on the sketch, then got to thinking "What if someone really nice were actually an egomaniacal jerk?", and he wrote the entire thing while he waited for Bruce. The humour lies in the gap between reality and the sketch. If Holly were really like this, it wouldn't be funny.

I'm a huge Buddy Holly fan, and love KITH, but I'm not a fan of this sketch at all. Some things are sacred... Make fun of a rock star junkie who OD'd, or a drunk who crashed his car, for sure. But to go to this extent? That's just wrong in my books.
