The difference of a 747 passing you far up in the sky, and this jet is the distance between your ear and the engines. If the engines are further away from you it's going to take more time for the sound to reach your ear. Thus you wouldn't hear the 747 until it was close overhead or already passed. Since the pictured jet is closer the effect is diminished.
