    you're right, i didnt realize you said you had the v6. my subaru forester can beat a v6 mustang. they are slow as shit. they arent meant to be fast they are just for show. and either way, it makes 210 HP. That is MUCH different from 240 WHP.

  • @stanger9410 Also, the AWD will allow the WRX to fly off the line a lot faster then yours. Now if you throw turns into the equation (which is what the wrx is meant to do, real races, not drag races), your mustang would come no where close to being able to compete with the speed the WRX will be able to take the turns

    you obviously have no idea about anything besides drag racing. First off, he didn't launch the car, he accelerated around the turn. Secondly, subarus are some of the best handling cars in the world because of their symetrical AWD, and the boxer engine. The cars weight is balanced evenly, and the engine is low and wide. The fact that it has AWD alone is enough to make the car better taking corners than a mustang, let alone the handling capabilities

  • @chipleader14 im tellin you man AWD has nothing to do with how you corner. its all in the speed coming in, what gear you choose going in and where you start accelerating out. im not stupid, and ive been through driving school. the bob bonduraunt school of driving. look it up if you dont believe me. i could put my mustang into a corner just as fast if not faster than your suburu and come out of it even faster.

  • @stanger9410 Just becasue he couldnt hook up and i could doesnt mean he has more power than me. a lot of that had to do with awd vs. rwd But youre right though, he may have more hp than i do but guess what. Ive got more hp per pound than he does and in the end thats all that matters. Pretty much everyone that doesnt know anything underestimates power to weight ratio. Ive taken 800hp diesel trucks no problem and that was when i was a stock 227 hp at the crank.

  • hey am getting a 2002 or 2004 Subaru wrx as my first and would like to know what are a couple good mods i can do to improve the hp and torque also still be good on gas and not cost a whole lot

    first off, Accessport, it'll get you to stage 1 on a totally stock set up and you'll have some fun with that...

    then if you want stage 2 and your stage permits, a turboback exhaust, it'll get you to what this video shows...

    afterwards, you'll probably want to upgrade the turbo and upgrade everything else a bigger turbo requires:

    intercooler, intake, fuel pump, fuel injectors etc...

    and after that you'll definitely need to upgrade your suspensions and brakes to support your mods

  • @mohrpimpin well a brand new COBB Accessport will cost you $595 brand new in most sites, but you should be able to get an unmarried one for about $350-$400. They have both stage 1 and 2 preset onto the Accessport.

    turboback will run you around $1200 and turbos really depend on what the goal for your car is, just like the supporting mods for it...

    but serously, stage 2 kept me happy for a long time :)

  • @mohrpimpin =.=" I already told you in my first post, if you run stage 2, you'll need to upgrade your exhaust to a turboback, it'll give you the more or less the same numbers this video's WRX is running...

    BTW, if you get an Accessport, it comes with the stage 1 AND 2 maps, they also come with stage 1 and 2 race fuel maps (don't use these unless you actually have oct 93 fuel in your car...) all you have to do is select it on the handheld piece...

  • what are you running 0-60 with low boost, also if you swap in a bigger turbo than the stock but lower boost than stock, will it be slower?

    the bigger the turbo the faster your car will be, if you have a stock td04 @ 16 psi and you put an 18g on it, that turbo is bigger and the PSI is Per Square Inch, so the turbo is bigger and pushing out the same 16 psi but it's pushing more of it because there are more per square inches lol.

  • @willymywonka yo i have a bug eye and i put an apexi ws2 3in exhaust with no cats and it sounds great its not too loud i would recommend an oval muffler not a round one unless u want to pay a lot of tickets

    good idea keeping a limit on what you want for power.. my friend has a stage 4+ 03 WRX making about 420 to the wheels and it seems that his is starting to crap out at a little over 76k miles....

    seriously though, he had it done on a mustang dyno which is notorious for having extremely low readings. 240 WHP means that it has somewhere near 320HP at the crank

  • haha stage 2 is not just a tune...stage 2 is exhaust, or at least a high flow down pipe, and intake. and a tune on top of it, but most cars that are stage 2 will have a lot more then that. my sti is stage 2 and i have full turbo back exhaust, equil length headers, radiator, turbo inlet, cobb AP, and a few more things, and i am just below stage 3...

  • stage 2 3..... are referring to the amount of modifications the car has. Stage 1 is just a chip for the engine to give it about 23 hp to the wheels. Stage 2 is exhaust and downpipe, upipe, anything that is a bolt on without messing with the engine internals like the exhaust manifold headers so on. Stage three and 4 are all that and above bigger turbo bigger front mount intercooler. So stage 1 is 195 whp stage 2 goes to around 280 whp and stage 3 and 4 are 4 to 500 whp

  • I have an '02 wrx with a vf-34 turbo and its pushing 251 whp but that's with the stock intercooler.. and technically the vf-34 series is stage 4 along with the tbe and intake.. but a car can def handle a tmic bcuz sometimes fmic for a subaru making this kind of power may hurt it.. and the intercooler does stay cool for quite a bit unless you're beating the shit out of it at the track. So 240 whp.. sounds about right. and 02' doesn't have a strong enough tranny for more than stock power. -tiffany

  • What a fool. Dynos vary quite a lot, but on a middle reading Mustang dyno I made 247 whp at stage 2 on my '02. I'm now making 356 whp on a shitty tune.

  • Right, that's what I said. But all these "stages" are relative. It all depends on what mods you have, and obviously a good tune. Different companies classify stages differently. So, him saying he's got a Stage 4, doesn't say anything to me. You know? By Cobb a VF34 turbo upgrade with many other mods is a Stage 2.5 and has about 270AWHP. I'm at about 280AWHP with a PDX tune at 18psi. :)

  • I have a 02 wrx on stage 2(Invidia DP,UP,CATBACK 3",tuned by TS) Stock turbo,stock internals and im only pushing out 25X AWHP,25X trq. Ill be going stage 3 soon, that means bigger turbo than stock,bigger TMIC,bigger injectors,diff fuel pump and some other little things.

    try launching the wrx with a 5 speed. Yea it wont break at first, but eventually your teeth will start to give away, and the gears will brake. Now with the 6 speed tranny, the teeth of every gear are much stronger and bigger.

  • I hear only 02-03 year 5spd transmissions were weak. I have an 05 and have launched it from a dig MANY times w/ VF34 and other mods. No problems... *knock on wood*

  • Actually its not the gears that are weak... Its the tranny case itself that flexes under shock, which causes things to break, such as gears. Google it, theres lots of info out there about the 5spd tranny case.

  • True, it's not designed for more than about 300, however it can take it if you don't drive like a banshee constantly. But yea, I wouldn't recommend going to far past 300 without an upgrade to STI or custom tranny.

    02-04 trannys were shit. Yes not only the bugeyes had bad trannys. Even the 04 models had horrible transmissions. They will last unless you drive them hard all the time. Granny shifting is fine for most of the time.

  • internet numbers. my car only made 275whp on 91 and only 16psi (daily driving map) and i still eat up 350bhp cars all the time. peak hp isnt every thing its more about power delivery and holding those numbers through the power band

  • Most people consider anything with an upgraded turbo and intercooler to be stage 4 (myself included) so this car would fall into that category. How are you only making 240awhp on a VF22? I'm making that much with exhaust and tune on my 02 wrx...

  • Their is generally two different views on that. PDX tunning considers this a stage four and even marked my car as such on dyno sheet. Alot of people consider a big turbo wrx even without any engine mods to be a stage 5. While the other half consider my car to be a stage 3 and a big turbo wrx to be a stage 4. Neither view is really right or wrong.

    p.s. stage 2 wrx is a TBE and tune only, anything beyond is no longer stage 2.
