If I was standing on the edge of a gigantic cliff and all of society and civilisation was collapsing before and around me, and if I was given the choice of having one song played at an astronomical volume all around me as I was swallowed up and died along with all we know, it would be this song!
these guys were already individually better than many musicians that came after them, and as a group, they surpassed anything any band of any style of music ever dreamed of being or becoming!!!!!
It's sick how good these guys were as a group. There may be (or has been) a better individual guitarist, bassist, drummer and lead singer in other bands, but nothing comes close to Zeppelin as a group. It's pretty rare to have a band made up entirely of guys who would be considered top 5 in their respective area.
People who comment about Sucker Punch, Justin Bieber, and bands discovered on YouTube have no understanding of the eternal epic awesomeness that this song imparts on their brains and spirits.
the swaying flow going into the last chorus has cause me to shotgun many ah many ah many beer in my life. Led Zepplin will always be the greatest to me and forever reesponsible for calming me in times of need. I listened to Achillies Last Stand every night before bed in Afghanistan for 2 years
@addictedtotoads lol if you didn't know....this band was already famous...and will be for a LOOOONG time to come xD...and no...if they advertise on youtube, they don't know anything about the music industry or got all of their demo reels rejected :3
1 day about 11 yrs. ago, it rained 4.5 in. within an hours time. The water levels of the creek in my front yard started to rise all the way up to the steps. There was a 3 ft. swell above my neighbors 4 ft. fence. I ran inside & put this song on my cd player, & moments later the water started receding away from my front porch!!!
@cheapcape Now my only legitimate complaint is...Why in the hell did you take the time out of your day to type in the "Search Box" "Led Zeppelin- When the levee breaks" just to say that "Beastie boys made this into a better song....just why?!
Why not go to the "Search Box" And comment that on a beastie boys song?...Not trying to insult you or nothing like that.
Confirmed: drums were recorded at "Headley Grange Mansion" in the stairwell. They created a huge sound. Jimmy talk's about in the movie "It might get Loud". Thank you DrxGonz0 for pointing that out.
I heard that they recorded the drums at the bottom of a staircase in a mansion and suspended the microphones. I think that was from the book hammer of the gods. great drum sound whatever they did.
@MrTaylorguy1 yeah they did, and if u see the movie It Might Get Loud, Jimmy goes to the house where they recorded the drums for this song. it was pretty awesome
@MrTaylorguy1 Bottom of an empty swimming pool with suspended microphones. Bonham liked to practice there because of the sound and "feel". The rest of the band figured why not just record it....
@turtelyturtleclub there both great band's though I my self like Pink Floyd better than Led Zep but still there both some of the best artists in decades.
@hameed realy? i would think they would use it in a documentary for the flooding in louisiana (and else where in the south) after all, they broke the levee.
@tonganslop69 watch loudcryprophecies video on nwo's agenda 21 and the flooding of america. It really is happening on purpose you know, but you want hear that on news. Its probably to kill our food supply. Not katrina though, that was for other reasons. Flooded field, no crops. So we depend then on monsanto? :D
