I don't get it. Why was practically every TV performance she made after the TKI era mined? I know that a lot of shows back then made all their musical guests lip-sync, but surely it can't have been literally ALL of them. And I get that she didn't tour, but a TV special where she would've performed all the songs LIVE would've been nice, at least we could've heard what those songs would sound like in a live setting, even if just once.
@IAmPlaysWithSquirrel Most TV shows in Europe could not provide the technical equipment to play live. They were recorded in studios with poor accoustic systems and when artists wanted to perform live, they were said no, or at least, they could sing on a pre-recorded track. I guess Kate's music became too complex to be recreated decently in such studios and as a perfectionist, she must have refused to perform with her musicians, knowing it would sound poorly. Many artistst complained about it.
@JewishVegan I am Italian. 'RAI' is the Italian National TV channel (like BBC in the UK). Beside, at the beginning I can hear the voice of Pippo Baudo, one of the most famous hosts of Italian televisions. I am sure this is taken from 'Festival di Sanremo' a famous and important contest of Italian musicians (which also hosts foreign artists).
She's a great singer, but it's awful how in almost all of her live performances she just lipsings without a microphone. If I ever paid to see that, I just stay home and play the record, seriously.
i know about H.A.A.R.P.; The 'official' story though was that they burned all his books-and likely kept his research-the shadow government are famous for doing that THEY tell the presidents what to do
@spiderbass65 99.9 % of all videos are lip synced just to maintain continuity. I wish everyone could get that thru their head. Kate Bush doesnt do anything that every other video performer doesnt do. And yes she has an incredible talent.
@Smoott69 The "video" of this song is with Donald Sutherland. When there is an audience, it should be real and in the moment. Is the applause canned as well I wonder? I don't know who you see live, but I've never seen a live show lip-synched.
@spiderbass65 if you have never seen a live show lip synced then you havent seen a whole lot of live shows. There is also many cases of it where the performers were caught at it. I think "Wham" was one. Brittney Spears has been caught just to name a few. you had better go start doing some research. lip syncing live shows is pretty much the norm.
@Smoott69 At least when you mention Wham and Brittany Spears, I know where you're coming from. I've seen close to 300 big name acts since '82. David Bowie, Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, The Grateful Dead, The Pretenders, The Meters, Stones, Phish, Santana, Police, Talking Heads, Tool, English Beat, Stevie Wonder, etc.....they improv and even screw up the lyrics. Maybe some of the jazz shows (Miles, Return To Forever) lip sinched and I missed it. Maybe I need to do some more "research"....heh heh.

@Smoott69 I disagree with you, but it's stupid either way. But it's especially stupid when it's someone who actually has the talent to sing it, like Kate Bush. Here I think that the theatrics are put above actually putting together a live performance, rather than Kate not being able to sing it.
Ignoring the fact that this is a 'performance' as opposed to a live rendition of the song.... I was commenting on the lack of selling her music with her body.
She's female,... she's singing pop music... and she keeps her clothes on?!?!?! I thought it was an absolute necessity that all female pop stars must strip down to their underwear and flash their tits and ass in our faces, so that we ignore the fact that they can barely sing..... OH WAIT... KATE BUSH HAS TALENT!!!! That's what was confusing me... it's a rare thing to see these days.
@GunHed17 yes , an excellenent singer/songwriter/musician. Kate is to release an album of songs about SNOW SOON.I actually saw her live back in 1979....
"all the dudes in suits in the audience glimpsed at the end.!"
----------
Actually the end made me laugh... Why was this audience full of suits there. it seems so surreal and odd. Hopefully, some of these suits looked up the original video and perhaps looked up "Wilhelm Reich" and maybe it opened some new thought processes ; -)
Cloudbusting is my most favourite song ever, hands down. It evokes so much nostalgia to me for some reason - sight, touch, smells. Kate Bush is the most talented musical being in the universe.
If you get a chance check out the book "A Book of Dreams" which inspired the song. It was written by Peter Reich and is about growing up with his father, Wilhelm.
I don't think she intended for people to think she was live, because she hasn't even got a microphone, if you look at the videos the times she did lip-synch she was trying to create a story or scene or just re-create the video.
