  • L. Douglas Henderson (ARTCRAFT) asked me to comment on his music roll arrangement of this piece, performed in this video. He calls this work a reconstruction. He created and produced this original arrangement of the piece based on the original sheet music, and on a much earlier music roll set produced by Pleyel and rejected by Antheil, due to technical errors and difficulties.

  • Yes !!! Please let us see and hear the other rolls , too !!! Please !

  • This is wonderful. I have the same set. Please post all three rolls. Thank you.

  • @chem100 You should post and share them on your Weber Duo-Art grand.

  • Thank you for posting it ! It´s funny to look .

  • Thank you for this, I've always wanted to hear the roll version of this. George's original title to this was "Message to Mars" You have to remember George was in his early twenties when he wrote this, and he never lived it down his entire life.

  • The big problem with this piece is that it was meant to go hand-in-hand with the accompanying silent film. Without the visuals it just becomes a technical exercise for the instrument. Impressive, yes, but I think something is lost without the context.

Also this is a much more listenable performance than that ridiculous exhibition with 12 solenoid pianos, mechanical xylophones, fire alarms and whatnot.

  • jeez! I hope you didn't pay more than $1 for that! LOL

  • Sorry, but I have to agree :( Don't like it.
