One of my favorite scenes of the movie. I Just watched it for the first time, yesterday, can't believe it's been out all this time, and I haven't ever seen it until recently lol. Bill Paxton is great in this movie I reckon. Stay safe all.
Probably one of the best vampire movies ever, these vampires are downright scary in this scene, the humans are nothing to them, just food and that's just what they are.
I think 30 Days of Night was really inspired by this movie, when it comes down to the ruthlessness of the vampires.
And boy, do they look cool when they enter the bar! 0:29...Offcourse John Parr's song "NAUGHTY, NAUGHTY" helps allot.
bill paxton was an electrition on movie scence before he was an actor. it was james cameron who gave him hes first role in acting as an extra in terminator
Love this movie. Bill Paxton is badass, so is Lance Henriksen. Jenny Wright is beautiful etc.etc. If they remake this they'll definately fail. More movies like this should be made but no remake.
I love this and lost boys, can't decide beetween the two. but i absolutely love the part when caleb gets shot, holy shit, holy shit, jesus..am i alive?
One very classic scene i remember tryng to buy this movie on vhs and ppl at the videostore saying it was a lost tape they were so hard to find and were up for like 200 bills on ebay. When it came out on dvd I was the first person buying this movie is one of the best classics out there.
haha I forget that one girls name who slit the waitresses throat but she did for flirting with Jesse :P. This has ALWAYS been my all time FAVORITE part!
bill paxton was recurrent in James Cameron movies, as a punk in TERMINATOR, like you said in ALIENS..., like used cars seller in TRUE LIES...and TITANIC
otherwise Kathryn Bigelow director of this movie and James Cameron were married 1989-1991
Kathryn Bigelow is a goddess!! I love her films and this one is way more brilliant than THe Lost Boys (although I adore Lost Boys too), but this movie made the vampires actually scary and not once is the word ever mentioned.
and bill paxton was so yummy in this movie, i loved his character growing up, had such a huuuge crush.. and i totally loved the part when o'girl slit the waitresses throat for flirting with the head vamp... sorry i'm terrible with names

This movie was boring!!! Not enough action. I thought this movie didn't come close to the lost boys. I'd take Kiefer Sutherland over Bill Paxton anyday.
i personaly like the lost boys more than this one, and i am by no means saying i hate this movie, i love it, it's my second favorite vampire movie, i liked the lost boys more cause it was a bit more pleasant to watch, i felt the characters were more likeable, and i could not stand that little one, they are both relatively the same plot taking place in different areas, and at te time, the lost boys actors weren' to popular, and it had less of a budget, but this is still under-rated
and i am not saying the lost boys is overrated either, nowadays it is very over looked, and people don't seem to talk about it as much, people are now focusing on twilight, underworld, and blade, even though 80s vampiremovies are far better
This and the shootout scene(which is the most creative in the script) are the only parts of this film I felt were really any good. And yet, they're still enough to qualify recommending the flick to anyone. So make of that what you will.
Holy Monkey - this movie looks awesome! I've never seen, nor ever come across it.
I also dig all the Terminator / Aliens cast in it: Bill Paxton, Lance Henrikson, Jeanette Goldstein and even that craggy-faced Biker dude from T2. I definitely need to check this movie out!
Incidentally, anyone know if this movie inspired "The Family" in the game, Fallout 3? I was reminded of it for some reason.
Hey there! Yes this movie is awesome- you can watch entire movie on dedinside you tube user channel- I was gonna post it on another channel of mine but he beat me to it:) hope u enjoy it- about the question u asked im not sure about that. sorry :(
It wasn't just that Lost Boys had a better cast or anything like that it was because the studio that funded Near Dark went bankrupt just before it was scheduled to be released and subsequently couldn't promote it
With the exception of Diane, Lance was a well known actor, he was in Aliens, and Terminator are you kidding? As was Bill Paxton (aliens). This fell because it was a bit slow next to Lost Boys. Compare this bar scene to the bonfire scene in Lost Boys. I like vampire movies so I am not bagging this at all, I like this. It's easy to see, Lost Boys had a young good looking cast for the vampires, it targeted the youth. That's why it dominated.I can say it should have gotten more credit though.

Besides this scene, the movie sucked. Tons of plot holes, random outbursts, discontinuity points. No closure, no explanation on how or why he was "cured" as a vampire. They don't explain how the kid spontaneously explodes outside while the girl is fine. So many damn holes it couldn't piss me off more when it was finished.

SvenBenson - uhm..perhaps Homer was a vampire who couldn`t stand the sunlight and kaleb`s sister wasn`t???? Was the movie so difficult to understand???
Did anyone notice right after the little kid kills the shit kicker at the end of the scene that the director breaks the 180 degree rule between the young half vampire and the blonde girl. Their eye contact is going in the same direction, yet they're suppose to be looking at each other.
Does anyone know a realistic vampire movie in modern time, maybe other eras, that is like the real good games but also contains barely any actors that i would have heard of, i know its asking much but its the only movie i would like really of vampires :P.

Carptenter's The Thing is one of the few and it was was incredible. On another note...I really like Bill Paxton, he's a very underrated actor...I have no idea why people rip on him so much. I haven't seen his tv show, I just know his films. I'd cast him definitely.
Near Dark, The Lost Boys and Fright Night are in the top 10 greatest vampire films made. Near Dark for some reason failed when it was released. There was no marketing for it and the trailer was shit. Fright Night 1 & 2 sucked! That was slapstick vampire horror similar to Evil Dead. I do agree Near Dark & Lost Boys are great films and so isnt the highly underrated gorefest DARKNESS:: THE VAMPIRE VERSION Great film next to Near Dark & Lost Boys! From Dusk Til Down is good as well.
u did not just say that. fright night was ausome and is and always will be a classic.i totally agree the 2nd one sucked major cahones and was an epic fail, but the first, classic ausomeness.
They haven't done it yet. All they have is a writer. They're saying the director will be the guy who directed Nirvana's "Teen Spirit" video. It's probably in development limbo, but yeah, it'll be remade. By the same guys who remade the Hitcher - I've never seen either version.
In the Doc it says Bill Paxton told Lance Henrikson about it and Lance had already read the script for it. Janette had auditiond seperately and they were all surprised to meet on the set.
I'm sorry, but this movie just isn't very good. I'm not saying it doesn't have any entertainment value, but... it's just not very good. The Lost Boys is cheesy, but this is more just dumb. And do these characters even have fangs?
Does anyone here know that Adrian has his own YouTube account? It's called"buckshotwon";and it is BY FAR THE BEST account here on YouTube;that takes ABSOLUTELY NO thought process whatsoever......
This was one of my favorites as well. I just love Bill Paxton in his role as Ceverin. My favorite part is later in the movie when they're in the hotel room playing cards, Caleb's little sister comes in and says "boy you people sure stay up late". Ceverin replies "We keep odd hours". Classic!
This scene was actually boring!

Can anybody clarify the rumour that they've gone and remade this film. Please tell me that, that is not the case.

They haven't done it yet. All they have is a writer. They're saying the director will be the guy who directed Nirvana's "Teen Spirit" video. It's probably in development limbo, but yeah, it'll be remade. By the same guys who remade the Hitcher - I've never seen either version.

Why a lot of actors from Aliens also act in this movie, maybe, were they under contract?

In the Doc it says Bill Paxton told Lance Henrikson about it and Lance had already read the script for it. Janette had auditiond seperately and they were all surprised to meet on the set.

I'm sorry, but this movie just isn't very good. I'm not saying it doesn't have any entertainment value, but... it's just not very good. The Lost Boys is cheesy, but this is more just dumb. And do these characters even have fangs?

one of the actors came out in terminator 2(1990),and the other in top gun(1986)

This was one of my favorites as well. I just love Bill Paxton in his role as Ceverin. My favorite part is later in the movie when they're in the hotel room playing cards, Caleb's little sister comes in and says "boy you people sure stay up late". Ceverin replies "We keep odd hours". Classic!
