thx for the help man, BUT when I have a video on a deck and I drag a song on top, the song goes is the only thing on the deck (video dissapears). How can I assign audio to a video otherwise? I have that same skin

@BigJavs The XPONENT is a USB CONTROLLER that lets you DJ without touching the laptop, it frees up your hands from the mouse and gives you control via buttons and jog wheels, you could DJ with a laptop by itself, or you could use a MIDI controller such as the XPONENT. @BigJavs Mike is right,if you don't have a Dj set(mixer,turntables,etc) all you need is a DJ controller,some really good ones are(look them up on youtube): affordable:Torq Xponent(which is the one Mike is using),Hercules RMX. Top class you will find:Traktor S4,Denon MC6000,Numark NS7(pricey though) and the newest Pioneer DDJ-T1 or DDJ-S1.Prices are between $500 to 1K.That's all you need since most of them come with the sound card and software to just plug in in your USB laptop and just PLAY!!

I have virtual dj 6.05 and I cant do what you did. I tried to drag a song on the video and i tried to drag a video onto the song and a message comes up saying, " a song is playing on this deck, are u sure u want t stop it? " If u say no, the current song still plays, if u say yes. the video or song would play and stops the 1st song playing. what am I doing wrong?

@TheMaundreiVII dude just fuck with the codecs until it works. thats what i had to do i ended up using some weird ass format..but it works, well enough....change the codec, attempt to record, repeat. until a working codec is like BLAAAM SON also you may wanna try getting all the plug-ins,because maybe for some crazy reason you need those too. but i doubt it.

@djtavi77, if I remember correctly....there was an option to choose the xponent inside of virtual dj. Just goto config, remore control, and choose the xponent icon. And everything has been pre-mapped for you. Now I did notice in the newer versions they got rid of the ICON of the xponent , so im not sure how that works in the newer versions of virtual dj.

If your using windows OS, then you just need to setup a dual screen. Then use your 2nd screen connected to your projector or Plasma Screen your 1st screen being the laptop or computer that your running virtual dj on.

The easiest way (and probably the cheapest) would be to get a DVD recorder from somewhere, and connect it to the S-Video out on your computer, and to the Record Out on your mixer.

Set the levels so they're not clippjng, press record on the DVD recorder, and play your set.

Once it's done, rip it back to your computer.

The other way is to use a computer with a video capture card, and connect it up that way, but it's harder and more expensive

Im getting into pc djing, iv been only djing for about three months with cdj200's and a mixer, iv been going to the clubs and im hearing these crazy hiphop mixes mixed with house beats, or hip hop beats with different vocals from other hip hop songs, do you need a computer dj software to do this, or can this be done with just cdj's ad a mixer

typically that is a song that was produced from scratch but they add hip hop acapella to the song in time so typically they're not doing the live it's already been done and they're just spinning the record or mp.3 not to say it's not possible but that's typically how it's done.

Hi Mike, thanks for the help. Yup I hooked up a projector to vga port on my computer, but I only get all of my Virtual DJ screen instead of just the video monitor screen projected on the wall. The laptop monitor shows Virtual DJ and video output and so does the projection. I don't seem to have a pop down menu on Virtual DJ to change the video configurations. Ill look again. Thanks

This sounds like a dual monitor setting in windows. Try pluggin in a second monitor and you should see that it works. Hard to make it work with one screen ...I know that sounds strange but plug it in and let me know what happens.

yes, very tricky...i am able to duplicate so just make sure your dragging to the correct location...I don't this is a feature more than it is a something stumbled upon.

you can plug in to a TV that has a vga input or you can use a projector. Just do a dual monitor in windows settings. One for your screen and one for your monitor/tv/. On a laptop you would use your screen as one and the external vga as the other. very easy to do.

Well I know that from by (very bad) laptop that it has an extra output for a monitor, and i was playing with that till I got my normal computer. (to put a monitor in and have 2 of the same).

But in my computer now, I bought a videocard so I got 2 outputs, 1 normal and 1 videocard (that I use normally)

the external controlloer im using is called the torq xponent. It talks "MIDI" to virtual DJ software. So it means you don't have to touch the laptop or a mouse to dj with. The controller has a built in sound card as well which you would just plug straight to your amp or you can goto a mixer as well. Very easy to use.

Okay. For the video to show up on an external projector only and not what your doing, you have to set the projecter screen as an EXTENSION of your desktop (at least on vista). When you plug it in and connect it a window will popup and ask you for a mirror or extension of your desktop, choose extension. Go into VDJ, config, video etc., to the dropmenu and select the option other than "Window" (it has a combo of numbers and letters). Then check activate and it should work.

if your using 5.0 version of virtual dj, then you would click config, video, video output (Activate) then click the ENABLE/DISABLE button above that. You will see the small window disapear and it should now be on your projector. To test your projector you can use the FUNCTION F8 Button on your laptop that says CRT/LCD.
