  • changes in the sea during an undersea earthquake,

  • BP oil spill? im just guessin

  • @illfedskitofit Thanks for the comment. Check out David Suzuki's documentary "One Ocean, Episode 4" (which you can watch online). This documentary has a great segment on the Humboldt squid, as well as on low oxygen. We agree that dissolved oxygen levels could be an important part of the puzzle.

  • sudden extream oxygen fluctuation would be a good reason why both low oxygen squids, and high oxygen fish are both dead on the beaches together.

(that and that we already know that every el nino since 2002 seems to push the low oxygen zone higher north and closer to the surface of the animals normal habitat)

seems like someone should be laying insturments on various depths of the ocean to see whats going on there. inspecting things like oxygen ratios, and other elements in the water.

  • Are those a bunch of fish laying on the ground too? Low oxygen levels in the water? But yeah those Humboldt are starting to show up more in the strait of juan de fuca and Washington during the summer months when the warmer waters are closer into the areas.

  • I live and work in Tofino and it was so creepy walking out at work and seeing this all over the beach (I work at the Wick).

    They're so creepy looking...

  • Good job and thanks, I'm in Dartmouth NS and my daughter in law told me about it tonight, no mention of it this evenings news.

Thanks again. Hope it's nothing more serious
