my dad is so cheap he frikin got me this laptop 3 or 4 months ago instead of the macbook i wanted and now my laptop is so frikin skow the fan is like a jet engine and the speakers arent too great and dell was so low on stock for these things i frikin had to wait 1 and a half months 4 it
I would say this, it's a nice looking machine when compared to other business laptops. Dell how some really nice looking machines now, in their Studio line. And HP have just come ou with some really nice looking cheap laptops. Whilst I stil like it, I probably like it slighty less now, since it's a year old design.
How is the glossy screen? Would you recommend it to a college student because i dont know whether i should go for the glossy or matte but i am leaning towards the matte.
Really is personal decision. If you spend a lot of time outside with your laptop, or in a lecture room with a lot of sunlight. Go with matte. If it's mostly inside with no direct sunlight, then glossy.
Hey dude, it is really awsome, I found it in Iraq but didn't buy it yet, just making sure of it over the internet so I've some questions if you don't mind please, how much is its price? does it have core 2 due of CPU? how much does it give you of battery life if you lessen the light to the minimum? Can you play GTA IV on it??
thanks a lot for the video n I'm sorry cuz i couldn't understand your voice speech well, i'm yet practising on english :D
It cost me £750 GBP, but the basic version is now maybe £350 GBP. It does have a Core 2 Duo CPU. When I first got it, I got 3 hrs battery life easily. I'm not sure if you can play GTA 4 on it, but you can play things like Coutner Strike, WoW so probably. And your english seems quite good :).
When doing a review of something it is important to have adequate lighting. It is pointless to point out features that do not show up due to poor lighting.
Simmer down Beavis, im trying to help you not look like a a ham and egger. You think there was enough light When you show off the sides of the laptop? Get real. You cna barely see the things you mention. All you needed to do was add an additional light to the table. Were not talking rocket science here.
I can easily see all the things at the side, maybe your monitor is broken. I'm obviously not a 'pro' film maker - hence I don't care. And plus, rocket science is easy.
Hello! How about the Resolution, ist it to small or to big with the 1280x800 (which is normal on 15,4'') Does the Fan often makes noise? Would you buy it again? Thanks!!
The resoultion is fine on the screen. The fan comes on a little more than I'd like, and it will come on a lot if you play games etc. I think I probably would buy the same computer again. Suits my needs perfectly.
Thanks for answer! Im not sure to buy the 1310 or the 1510. I would by either the 1510 with the 1440x900 or the 1310. but im not sure if the 1310 may be to small or better to say loss "space" on the screen. did you make also videos from the panel with the IE etc. for comparing the space? Thx juergen
wat should i get dell xps 5400 rpm 4gb ram 2.4 duo core 8400 gs graphic card vostro 1310 2.5 duo core 7200 rpm 3gb ram nvidia 8400 6 cell also overall counting looks too. Do you think the xps is noticeably better looking?
Hmm, you prob won't notice much difference between 2.4 and 2.5. If looks are something you worry about the XPS is a nice looking machine I suppose, and it does have HDMI out which some people find useful.
Also depends on price, if the vostro is a lot cheaper that'd swing it for me too.
Update: When I got mine it was totally bent and had tons of issues. Went through Dell Hell in the following 2 months with the worst customer support ever (they didnt reply to emails, didnt call back and procrastinated where they could). At the end I could return it for a refund. You better pray that you never need service. BTW the Vostros have a design flaw that causes crackling and popping audio when the WLAN is on and Dell is not going to fix it. Never again Dell.
keep in mind that your config is the most powerful. that may be the reason why the fan is "loud" to you. i've read german reviews and they say that one of the biggest advantages of the vostro is, that the fan is really quiet or not even active most of the time when using office applications.
i've ordered one last week and i can't wait for it to arrive :P
btw: dell is having delays with delivering, because they are running out of batteries.
I'm using the 6 cell battery, the fan might be loudish if your in a silent room, and it does come on fairly often. But it keeps such a small, powerful laptop pretty cool.
Is this a good laptop for basic computer use? Like...a few word documents, a powerpoint or two, a few PC games, and mostly internet? Because I want to make sure that this would be a good laptop for my computer uses.
It depends, for me it's a good size, but then I touch type etc. If you type lot and are used to a keybord layout I can't see much of a problem from the vostro 1310's keyboard.
what do you find more pleasant to use this dell vostro or your macbook? Im a little confused now because im not sure which one to get because 13 inch screen might be a little to small for autocad while 15inch seems kinda big for a laptop...
Well for power to money the vostro is a better deal than the macbook. It depends, you can always hook up a bigger screen to the laptop and use that for auto cad thats what I intent to do when I get around to doing some work. And the 13inch gives me the option of portability.
Hey Mate. Just got a new vostro 1310. Just wanted to ask you or any of the readers, does your laptop fan turn one very often and for short periods of time sometimes and do you find it a bit loud? Thks !
I've found that it does tend to do that, it annoyed me a little at first but its alright. It does actually keep the laptop really cool compared to other laptops I've used.
I do have one question for you/others, how do you find the graphics temperature, Playing games I've found it hitting high 90 degrees celcius!!
I'm configuring one right now and using it for school purposes and was wondering should i go with the Dell Wireless 1395 802.11g Wi-Fi Mini Card or the Dell Wireless 1505 Wireless-N Mini-card ? thanks
I doubt your school as a wireless N network setup, but the N card would be backwards compatible with what ever network your school had. N provides fasters wireless speeds and better range than either b or g, but its a more expensive card in the vostro and its not widly used. I just went for the g mini card.
It's great, I'd recommend it. It's quite comparable to the XPS M1330, if you don't mind something that looks less impressive and doesn't have a HDMI out, its a better buy too.
There are some, but its not that bad. Whats maybe a little worse is that little scratches and scuffs show up. But to be honest it still looks great, I wouldn't let that put you off getting one....
6 Cell, maybe 3 hours with wifi on and a external usb attachment. Maybe 4 hours with wifi off and screen down etc. Don't have a 4 cell, so I don't know how long it would last. But the 6 cell doesn't really add any weight as far as I can tell and doesn't stick out. So if you can go with at least the 6 cell.
Yeah, its got one mono speaker in built which sucks. BUT, the sound chip is pretty good, so if you hook it up to headphones or external speakers it sounds excellent.
No real keyboard flex at all which is nice. And the specs I got, the machine flys, really really quick. Boots up really quickly, applications load fast, and vista runs like a dream.
