  • What happens if you only want to use 2 filters instead of the possible 6? How do you seal the extra holes?

  • If the Berkeys are so great, why do the Black Berkey filters break off at the base of the Plastic?I purchased 4 black Berkey filters four months ago used all four in the container and always took good care of them. Now I cant seem to get an exchange for the three that broke loose from what appears to be Hot Glued together.Berkey is a waste of my time and money. What a Ripoff.

  • If you drink too much pure water, it can kill you. Because of diffusion, too much pure water running through your blood stream can actually create a hypotonic environment compared to your cells and draw many important particles (things like ions and molecules) out. Needless to say, that can be a bad thing.

  • @evilmeerkat007 It's not "purified" water that does that... it's "distilled" water. Distilled water doesn't have the beneficial minerals so the body leeches essential minerals from bones and muscles to compensate. Purified water retains those minerals so there's no concern here.

  • @Golgafrinchamdent I have been drinking distiled water for years and I see no ill effects. The minerals you get from water is nominal, meaning the amounts are so minute that removing them makes little difference. If your body is leeching minerals from your bones as you claim then it is because of a poor diet. Its what the person is eating or not and not whats in the water they drink.

  • @NoMoreWarNoMore I also drink distilled water... I like the taste. But I am correct about the effects I mentioned above... of course I imagine you'd have to drink alot of it to cause a problem. In any case, I was simply responding to the concerns of the commenter above me... evilmeerkat007 who had mistakenly atributed these effects to purified water... instead of distilled.

Anyway it's all just an isidious international communist conspiracy to sap impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.

  • @evilmeerkat007

That only happens if you drink too much water "IN GENERAL". Too much of anything could be harmful to anyone. And that brings me back to my first thought when I read your comment,... YOUR A FUCKING IDIOT !! lol

  • @mon3ybagz condemnation without investigation is the highest form of ignorance.... YOU FUCKING MORON.

  • I would just get a good refrigerator most have water things on the door and have filters. I have a french door lg refrigerator in aluminum it has a water dispenser on the door. But mine was 3000 dollers a 800 refrigerator has a filter and water dispenser on it. It comes standard now.

  • @jasonrothfeld people who buy these things are invariably preppers buying them for outdoor or emergency conditions.

They don't require any power and are easier to transport in an emergency/"bug-out" than your refridgerator.

  • @jasonrothfeld does it filt the fluride?!?!

  • @MrTruthSeeka Berkey sells optional flouride removal filters (if you haven't discovered already" I recommend the addition to the black filters. I love my Berkey Lite!

  • @jasonrothfeld There's a lot that those filters, like most typical retail filters, will not take out. And the filter on your refrigerator won't remove fluoride.

  • I would only trust a water filter using Tap water and nothing else. I would prefer a distiller for river or lake water since distillers use and replicate the Hydrologic cycle thus leaving you only pure H2O... Filters start out good but as it is used more it cloggs up fast. If it doesn't clog fast then things are getting past the filter and you are drinking it. If berkey filter is so good I would like to see it filter urine or Ice Tea. I know a distiller will seperate the H2O from urine...

  • If my sport berkey sits for any length of time it has a VERY chemical taste for the first bottle's worth. It makes me nervous to drink it. What makes the chemical taste? It has to be the filtered impurities back-feeding into the bottle. Mine is new, it's done this from the start. I don't use it anymore. It worries me.

  • can i use water from river??

    how about water from ocean??

    thanxs in advance.

  • @Backin2time You can't filter ocean water since it's salt water but I believe you can filter river and lake water if its fresh water

  • @stud002 t Thanks for the info i really appreciate it, it's water from the Hudson River wich is a combo of salt water and fresh water, the best thing to do is wait till low tide when the salt water is returning to the Ocean, atleast that's what i've read so far.

Thanks again and be well, hahah get it well...

  • I love my Berkey but I would have gotten a bigger one if I had it to do over again . Its just for me and my husband so we got the Big Berkey withe 2 black and 2 white ceramic filters. I think the white ceramic filters may slow things down a bit but I would never drink water without them. The filters take up a lot of space inside so we only can fill it to 1.5 gallons full and it takes about 6 hours to filter it.

I have to plan ahead if I am making a big pot of soup.

  • where would u get a bong filter?
