My friend was considering driving from Philadelphia to San Diego when we go back to college in SDSU. How much did gas cost for the whole trip? And will gas be cheaper in other states compared to usual CA gas prices of $3 a gallon?

It seems it took you almost 2 weeks. Was this because you stopped to look at stuff?

That trip took 2 weeks because I stopped in 3 cities. Made it from So Calif to Philly in 4 days before. Gas depends on your car, should be around $250. Jump on 81 in harrisburg and take that down to TN. From there, you can either head west on the I-40 thru Memphis, or head for warmer weather and go south til u hit I-10. Stay on I-10 until you pick up I-8 in AZ. Take I-8 the rest of way San Diego. Pick somewhere to chill out for a day after the first 1,500 miles or so. Good luck and drive safe!

I highly recommend grabbing GPS and satellite radio before you leave. Consider it an investment in your happiness and sanity. Also, utilize the cruise control. Cruise Control + GPS + Sirius / XM = Happy Road Trip. Good luck and safe driving!
