Also, if you notice, the tiles replace icons, not the computer.

Honestly, the only reasons I bought windows 7 was because I couldn't watch Netflix or use magic jack running linux (yes I know that using a virtual computer I could, but come on, im kinda lazy like that). Why would I pay to use this over windows 7? It's the same, but with a "Windows Phone" overlay only useful for touchscreen users. I bet this will have kinect functionality which is awesome but it takes me like 3 days on my xbox to select something. I would rather just use the controller to get through the menus.

It's creative, but at the same time seems counter intuitive. I mean they are essentially re-inventing the wheel here destroying decades of learning. This isn't the Windows people grew up with, it isn't the Windows they studied and now exactly how to use. It may look simple to use, but what about file management.. Windows was great for allowing the user to do exactly what they wanted, this looks like it'll limit that.

The only problem I see is that it could become very difficult to create one single os for both tablets and normal computers. we know from previous examples that this doesn't work, the iPad clearly proofs it.

This reminds me a media center which Microsoft has been playing with forever and nobody uses, but maybe this time around they'll be ready. It's nothing knew. When I saw this I assumed I was looking at a tablet UI. I figured that after the growing success of Windows Phone 7 Microsoft figured they would try have their tablets look more like that. Which is fair enough.

But for a computer? I can safely say I pretty much hate it. Trying to create one OS that fits all seems an impossible task to me.

I hope that there is an option to COMPLETELY disable this in windows 8, or I may just stick with 7 as there is nothing wrong with it at all.

Is this 1 OS-fits-all? Seems more suited for a tablet then a desktop. My preference would be that Microsoft focused on those aspects people like about Windows, rather than copying the other guy.
