I'm aware that an LS1 is an aluminum block and is very lightweight. however, it is obviously much larger, and will occupy more space than the stock f20 of an s2000, which sits entirely behind the front axle in the engine bay. an LS1 will not sit entirely behind the axle, and this will have a great effect on the handling of the car. use some common sense before you tell someone that they are "guessing!"
@tylerrrlaine It does not change anything. The LS1 is a pushrod engine and smaller than you think. Yes it is going to be much larger than the f20 but the weight that will be distributed to the front end axle will still only be slightly larger. The fact that it is in front or behind the axle is a miniscule point unless it will be quite a distance from it. The v8 will not be far enough in front of the axle in order to have an affect on the load that the front axle will bear.

I have an S2000 and I like what you did here and of course you're gonna have nit wits screaming sacrilege that you went away from the 4-cylinder to a V8. As long as you were able to keep the weight distribution and handling the added torque alone makes this swap a winner. Plus, who doesn't like the rumble of a V8? In comparison, all the mods you’d have to do to a standard F20 motor (while losing reliability in the process) this is a good idea. I would figure out a way to keep the A/C though. ;)

Well the 2JZ is about 8 inches longer than the LS1 since its a inline 6, it also weighs more having a cast block, it is taller since it has overhead cams should i keep going on why its a bad choice. The compact v8 can be crammed back into the engine bay so its practically front-mid, and weight distribution is still basically ideal. damn. such an ideal build. so awesome

@dragotink Isn't the Corvette Alum. LS1 roughly 400lbs and an F20C would weigh around 400lbs with the engine and transmission? I would assume that the tranny would be a lot heavier too. It would very likely be over 65lbs with the engine and tranny combo. 65lbs is actually quite a bit when it's all going to the front end like that. I would have just boosted for the extra power. I guess it would be kinda cool to have torque, but it's kind of useless on this car.

@fukgoogl1 S2K is not for drag racing and its a total waste to use it that way. Sticking a Chevy V-8 will probably make it slower in some circuits cuz of more understeer. Also, if you don't change the final drive, your top speed will be lower since the Chevy engine revs a lot lower than the Honda's. Besides Honda already has a V-8 powered RWD car called the HSV. It has nice 207 cubic inch V-8 which makes at least 500hp. Chevy S2K is the stupidest idea only Americans will think of.
@dragotink SBC weighs at least 200 lbs heavier than an F20C/F22C, more if you add the tranny. How the hell can adding 200 lbs to the front is gonna make the S2K "handle just as good"? That's BS. I think you don't even know how to drive the S2K the way it was designed to be driven - in a circuit or winding road. Swapping a V-8 into an S2K is like converting an M-4 to fire bullets from an AK-47. What for??
@AccordGTR First off it weighs 171 LBS more with the tranny and all of that weight is behind the front shock towers so it still a front/mid engine set up and after removing the LS1 power steering pump and AC along with relocating things to the rear of the car it still has a 50/50 balance believe it or not.I do know how to drive it and my DD S2000 and have had them both on road courses and trust me the topspeed is greater since it would hit 150 in 4th gear shifting into 5th and still has a 6th.
@AccordGTR Also since it has a Ford Cobra rearend the gearing is different now. I wouldn't say it is like making a M-4 fire bullets from an AK but more like turning a BB gun into a 9mm. As soon as you come across one of the 5 in the world right now ask them for a ride and then make some more comments i think you will change your ways. And Honda does not produce the HSV so it doe not count they only built a few for testing so far. When it is being sold then you can count it.

A 2jz is an iron beast, anyway. It probably weighs more than an aluminum LS1. It's truly a matter of preference, I guess. I just love the sound of a Chevy Gen IV or V LS block.

Great swap! I love it. May I recommend seeing what it looks like with 90's era corvette wheels. I remember seeing a honda accord with them on and it looked pretty mean, and on your car it would make more sense. Plus it would piss off all the rest of the purists! Again fantastic job!

@dragotink Isn't the Corvette Alum. LS1 roughly 400lbs and an F20C would weigh around 400lbs with the engine and transmission? I would assume that the tranny would be a lot heavier too. It would very likely be over 65lbs with the engine and tranny combo. 65lbs is actually quite a bit when it's all going to the front end like that. I would have just boosted for the extra power. I guess it would be kinda cool to have torque, but it's kind of useless on this car.

@fukgoogl1 S2K is not for drag racing and its a total waste to use it that way. Sticking a Chevy V-8 will probably make it slower in some circuits cuz of more understeer. Also, if you don't change the final drive, your top speed will be lower since the Chevy engine revs a lot lower than the Honda's. Besides Honda already has a V-8 powered RWD car called the HSV. It has nice 207 cubic inch V-8 which makes at least 500hp. Chevy S2K is the stupidest idea only Americans will think of.

@dragotink SBC weighs at least 200 lbs heavier than an F20C/F22C, more if you add the tranny. How the hell can adding 200 lbs to the front is gonna make the S2K "handle just as good"? That's BS. I think you don't even know how to drive the S2K the way it was designed to be driven - in a circuit or winding road. Swapping a V-8 into an S2K is like converting an M-4 to fire bullets from an AK-47. What for??

@AccordGTR First off it weighs 171 LBS more with the tranny and all of that weight is behind the front shock towers so it still a front/mid engine set up and after removing the LS1 power steering pump and AC along with relocating things to the rear of the car it still has a 50/50 balance believe it or not.I do know how to drive it and my DD S2000 and have had them both on road courses and trust me the topspeed is greater since it would hit 150 in 4th gear shifting into 5th and still has a 6th.

@AccordGTR Also since it has a Ford Cobra rearend the gearing is different now. I wouldn't say it is like making a M-4 fire bullets from an AK but more like turning a BB gun into a 9mm. As soon as you come across one of the 5 in the world right now ask them for a ride and then make some more comments i think you will change your ways. And Honda does not produce the HSV so it doe not count they only built a few for testing so far. When it is being sold then you can count it.

@dragotink 171 lbs is probably worth a second a lap, more if there's more understeer. Sorry, it's hard to believe it is a better car or worth the swap. So you are saying it doesn't have aircon or PS? That's ok for a track car, I guess, but you could also do that to a stock S2K and bring the weight down further. I would much rather remove 171 lbs off the stock car and put the best suspension and tires instead of shoe-horning a SBC into it. I love the car as it is

@dragotink Ah so its a street car and you get off feeling the torque off a SBC. I used to have a 67 Camaro 327 RS convertible when I was in high school but now I race Honda Civic touring cars. My Accord is daily driven with fully built H22 which I also won a track attack meet some years back. I know what you are talking about but still, I think its a waste of time and money messing up your S2K like that. It would have been cooler if you had a Z-28 or something like that. Just my opinion

Great swap! I love it. May I recommend seeing what it looks like with 90's era corvette wheels. I remember seeing a honda accord with them on and it looked pretty mean, and on your car it would make more sense. Plus it would piss off all the rest of the purists! Again fantastic job!
