@tjfosk: It's connected to my Korg Radias synth with a MIDI cable. The Radias is capable of much more, but I wanted something electronic-sounding and not complex, for this. =)

@tjfosk : Yeah, the keytar is just sending the MIDI notes, and the synth is receiving them and making the sound. It's also making the bass and percussion, but the MIDI for them is being sent from my computer (I recorded that first, so that I had something to play along with).

I hate to say this but you could have done so much better. the korg synth produces a pretty deep and rough background synth, then comes the soft muddy-sounding G15 keyboard sample which really doesn't work as a lead instrument or even semi-lead

@Reiuyi : This is an attempt at remaking the arrangement by Alstroemeria Records - I tried to make it sound similar to that version (my percussion is what lets it down, in my opinion). I high-passed the square lead, to try to make it sound similar to the Alstroemeria version - I presume that's what you're calling the "muddy" sound (the G15 is a keyboard which you type words on, not a musical keyboard).

@SomethingUnreal In the arrange made by Alstroemeria Records, there are vocals leading. The difference between your arrange and the off-vocal is the added keyboard which you use as lead. I'd say the percussions are fine. Most people have taken for granted that drums are often sequenced and the samples used repetitively. If you want to experiment, you could randomize the velocity and panning about 5~10% to add live, or ask someone to drum for you :P

@psychgoth : I've been making little pieces of music on a computer as a hobby for 5 years or so, although I often played random things on my keyboard (I got my first one about 9 years ago).

I got the keytar from a charity shop I used to work at, for about £4 (my manager was clueless). I used the freeware Audacity to record and mix the music. I was recording with my camcorder while some of the instruments were being played, and I later combined the music and videos with Magix Movie Edit.

Thanks! Although I did spend a long time modifying the volumes of each track and making them change over time, I still don't have much experience with this. It was quite difficult to get the right balance between keytar and guitar, because the guitar is doing the main ("original") tune, and I didn't want the keytar to drown over the main tune too much.

I do intend to keep making remixes. I've made a few, but I seem to be pushing them out pretty slowly. =/

Thanks, I'm glad you like it! I made the presets from scratch, except for the percussion one, which I just tweaked. The key to it having that growly sound is the Cross mod on Osc 1 (changing to VPM mod in the slower parts).

Well, I made it to work with my synth, so it doesn't sound very good on ordinary MIDI synths (the control changes from 0:44-0:56 don't even have any effect, for example). Also, some tracks aren't complete (because I improvised at these parts), or are missing altogether. I'm working on turning it into a more "universal" MIDI (also without missing tracks) which should sound better on ordinary MIDI synths.
