mike 9th does have hes own sound but thats what i like about 9th you know what your getting consistently good production like you say altho ive not copped this album yet i love 9th i really think dj premier should release a producer album like this with different mcs on different tracks that would be heaven sent
Mela Machinko works a lot with Pharoahe Monch, he always brings her out as well as Showtyme (he's a singer too) when he does shows...They're both great singers....
I didn't feel the album like his previous work on 'Dream Merchant vol.2'folks should really check out Bronze Nazareth's 'School For The Blindman' album that joint is WAY better in my opinion.
I hear what mykes saying about diversity. and i know 9th can do it but i think he naturally gravitates to a particular presentation of his style and zones there. (which btw is cool, because we all know hes amazingly gifted)
but as an example that beat 9th did for MOP "instigators" (or something like that)
when i heard how he flipped his soul style to make an MOP track i was blown away. that was so impressive. I am going to listen to it now...
I really enjoyed this album, it wasn't an innovative effort and I agree with C-Town that it was more or less consistent in style and sound, but it's good music so I don't mind.
Hope you guys show some love and review the album "Highlighter" by People Under The Stairs. it's so dope and they're a fully independent group now, no labels in the way. It'd be great to hear your thoughts.
I agree with what he says about the first song

This was hit or miss tbh. I can't enjoy a beat if there's mediocre rapping on it so it varies from song-to-song.
