for all you guys who want to play this you have two options. 1 get or have a working a GBC like me and play. Use emulators or free online sources like vizzed boards webiste vizzed.com or something to that effect. You can save, however the save goes away using the online emulator after like 48 hours of being inactive so log on daily and load it once a day or so to keep it around. Only bad part is not having someone to trade with to evolve or battle for more fun. Unlike Japanese Pokemon w/WIFI

@redsox87 He is doing it the walkthrough way. As you can see he is battling all the pokemon showing us the battles and going through it step by step. The walkthrough way is to take a starting pokemon use him only and go through the game. You say it isn't possible but it is. By the time he finishes with badge 4 he will be almost level 36 and evolved fully. How can he beat the gym leader with magnemites you ask? Simple pure level advantage as well as just simply attaching a gold berry.

a geodude is the best pokemon to catch at this point and yes you can catch a geodude and a spearow at this point

Hoothoot is really powerful and can help you out a lot in the game. Especially during the first and second gym.
