  • The Met's 2011 production was a great brooding reading of this quite brilliant opera. All of the singers gave immensely committed performances and Ms. Netrebko sure did it for me! I respect all the people who can sing their way through scores such as this and I thank them for their dedicated commitment to the art - and all the intense pleasure and emotional highs of well-sung and played opera I've experienced.

  • This singer cannot sing Anna Bolena.

  • This is incredible! Treating my ears to this kind of music, stimulates creativity to whatever I do.

  • What a beautiful sound its very dramatic but at the same time is so sweet and melodic like always she sings nowadays.

  • Really painful bolena. Poor us!

  • Fantastic interpretation!

  • Bravo ! Netrebko brilliant as usual !

  • Intonation is flat, no trills, coloratura is approximate at best........ good job peter gelb. another bel canto masterpiece destroyed by netrebko!

  • @kake1959 - You are a total imbecile to say such thing about a great performance. You must be ashamed!

  • @09avenger Ashamed? Hardly. Ashamed is what Peter Gelb should be felling now. Poor singing, a mediocre production with sets, costumes, and staging that look like something you'd see at a college production. Gelb continues his track record of poorly representing bel canto at the MET. If he's not hiring Renee Fleming to bellow and coo her way through the bel canto repertoire, he's turning these roles over to Netrebko to put her stamp of mediocrity on.

  • @kake1959 = So do you think Fleming could sing Bolena? Stop dreaming, there is no one today who is capable and Netrebko should not be responsible for production. Poor singing? Just come out and do better.

  • @09avenger read my reply again. fleming could not sing this either, although she probably would do a better job than netrebko. how about presenting your argument after you learn to read..

  • @09avenger I don't think any of these trolls have seen the opera inside the Met. They just saw the public projection outside and they are now pretending that they have and can speak with authority. I don't see them shelling out $400 = $1500 to go to the premiere. Do you? Not in a million years, even if they had the money to shel out which I very much doubt..

  • @09avenger I can't wait to see how she shreds Roberto Devereux!

  • @kake1959 Perhaps you should offer Peter Gelb your services to go and take over and show everybody how everything should be done since you are such an authority!!!! Hahahaha, but we are all used to your usual rants by now. Jealousy will get you nowhere!!!! And why waste your money going to see Roberto Devereux when they do it, since you are so sure already that she will "shred" it?? You must be a masochist or something. You poor thing!!!!

  • @Ariadne7710 Believe me, I will not be wasting any more money on netrebko! Peter Gelb is not interested in anyone's services, clearly as he's only interested in his one man crusade to destroy the Italian repertoire. God, I just had to listen to the clip again while I type this...... she sounds like a singing pig! By the way miss Ariadne, you are the one who rants against anyone who does not share you horrific tastes in singing or who dares offer any challenge to your juvenile posts!

  • @kake1959 You don't have to listen to thing you don't like. Just hit the mute button!!! I don't give a toss on you spend your money on. I have better things to do with my time. And BTW I will take Peter Gelb's and the rest of the music world's opinion on who is a good singer and what is good singing, before I take the opinion of some ignorant, frustrated, failed singer's who rants against exceptionally gifted and successful sopranos on YT.

  • @kake1959 - why don't you shut up? I listened to Netrebko's Bolena twice, once at the MET premiere and another time on October 15 (HD live), both times she was brilliant; the second time she was even better!

READ the press, you will see that you are alone.

  • @09avenger since when does anybody give a rats ass about what the press thinks? if all you silly little queens would spend your money on a score, instead of front row seats to this slaughter, you'd see she has no hope of ever doing this role justice! none of you will ever change my mind, and i could give a fig whether you agree with me or not. this is a horror show, and i will not respond further. i can only gleefully await for her pathetic attempt at Devereux. so pitiful!!!!

  • @kake1959 I totally agree with you.

  • kake1959 Listen fruit(k)ake, what are you bothering so much about AN's success and her works in general? I guess that she makes a great impression on you, doesn't she? Anna Bolena is serious dramatic role and it's,certainly, not for tweety birds.

  • @spqrmor Oh.... good one! You've such a way with words. What are you, 3 years old? Does your mommy

know you're on the computer sending dumbass messages? If Bolena is such a serious role then why have someone like AN ruin it with her poor intonation, sloppy trills and fioratura that is approximate at best? She does make a great impression, but not one to be proud of.

  • @kake1959 Hey nutcase, maybe you meant fior(I)tura? It seems you even don't know the stuff which you're trying to talk about. This time you went wrong, because she's full package of the role since great Callas.

Half-educated and outrageous Sills fans like you may write your filthy pasquinades further, but it will not help you to overshadow Anna Netrebko and her great Anna Bolena.

  • @kake1959 The word you are looking for is FIORITURE. It means flowery passages in plural. One flowery passage is called FIORITURA in plural = FIORITURE. Since you are such an expert in Italian operatic belcanto singing it is only right and proper that you get the terms right.

  • i want netrebko to interpolate a high D into this finale the way she does at the end of act one. that would make this so great.

  • Netrebko once again proves that she's an excellent singer. The Metropolitan Opera wasn't the same without her in the past few months.

  • I was at the premiere. I will never forget that night. Bravo Anna!!!!

  • @09avenger I was there on October 6, and I thought it was fantastic.

  • I am not a Netrebko fan, but I find this much better than her performances in Vienna. It's obvious she has completely re-thought the role. I look forward to the HD broadcast in October. I'm not criticizing her in any way, I just know that sitting Callas aside there have been other sopranos in this opera since her that have been greatly successful in completely different approaches to the role.

  • It was an amazing evening. Anna is a great artist.

  • Bella, si, ma proprio una mezza calzetta in questo repertorio...!

  • She really struggles in the da capo and the intonation goes out of the window.

  • I just found this out. Gelb who went to Austria and saw Netrebko's opera, wanted to make her the star of the Met.

  • Nobody does it like her. She walks into a room exuding confidence and the voice that she's famous for.

  • Thanks a lot. !!! ;-)

    She is superb!!!

  • I LOVE HER, I LOVE HER...WE SHALL NOT, SHALL NOT COMPARE HER TO CALLAS!

  • @wenarto Of course we can't compare her to Callas. It's like comparing "Prosecco & Oysters" with "Cola & Big Mac".
