I was addicted to Vincent Price and Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee movies as a kid (along with Boris and Bela!). I love trailers like this. Sure they're not slick like today, but boy they were fun. I laugh a lot at those movies now but I LOVED them when I was a kid and they scared the bejeezus out of me!

You're right, it was effectively PG-13, which didn't exist then. This went on all the way up until Temple of Doom where some dude getting his heart ripped out gave kids nightmares for weeks. You could also say "hell", "damn", and even show a little blood in a G movie, as Planet of the Apes did.

There was no PG-13 rating back in the 70's so a lot of movies that had some violence and mature content were rated PG.

BTW, the original Texas Chainsaw Masacre was rated R. Not because of Blood(There is very little blood in the movie), but because of it's basic premise.

I'm sorry; it may be a not-very-scary, slightly camp killer-thriller, but the scenery, camera-work, story, Vincent Price and final scene were so good! Definitley one of Price's better films. The finale is so fantastic; second only to Carrie in my opinion!

I've just watched this movie. Pretty disappointing really. I'm a fan of the old British Horror movies, especially the Amicus ones but this was a rather tired affair. The clips of Price's old movies went on far too long and were obvious padding to get the film up to 90mins. Price, Cushing and Quary make the thing watchable though.

I agree. I didn't even like what those 3 stars you mentioned did in the movie... Well, actually I don't know who Quary is. But Price and Cushing were old and past their prime here and it made the movie feel like that awful 1981 film, Ghost Story with the 4 old men.

The one good thing about the movie was the camerawork, especially in all the suspenseful scenes. And that disfigured woman with the spiders for pets. She was great.
