  • damn i wish that guy didn't suggest lake of fire he was about to play sam on acoustic which would have been super gnarly

  • good

  • kurt's version is way better !

  • Nirvanas version is waaaay better, but this guy was the shitz for writing dis song

  • I like both Meat Puppets' and Nirvana's versions.

  • Meat Puppets made this song 1st!!! of course some lame Metallica fan wouldnt know shit !fagat! If Kurt was alive he would tell you Fuck you Meat Puppets are one of my favorite bands.

  • Best Song Ever.

    Meat Puppets fo life yo

  • man, he took a fucked up guitar and played a song that HE created to the first guy that asked it. i think that when he played WITH kurt, he did have a decent guitar and some practice, so, go see him playing the original music with meat puppets to see how he truly are awsome

  • he isnt good guitarist at all....

  • impossible à écouter après Cobain, désolée...

  • Didn't nirvana do a cover of this

  • @metellica123 no i think nirvana did it first

  • @joancena5 No it was meat puppets first.

  • @joancena5 meat puppets

  • @joancena5 meat pupets

  • @joancena5 I don't agree

  • i like the authenticity of his version as well as the soul in Kurts cover...

  • Im sick of people calling it "cobains version" it was cobain sitting on a fucking chair, singing kirkwood's lyrics while kirkwood played guitar.

  • @deadkennedy00

    shut up infidel!! xD

  • Comment removed

  • doesn t matter if Kurt has a better voice !!!!!!!!!! this is also good and this is the original !!

  • this is his own version or something, i don't really like it..., kurt is much and much better!

  • @KaylaXxXYinnoh you do realize curt kirkwoods playing guitar on nirvana unplugged and chris kirkwood is playin bass and backup vocals. the puppets new CD LOOLIPOP is out april 12

  • god

  • here's what people don't get. it's his song. he wrote it. this is not some big studio acoustic production. it's an interview with a songwriter and his guitar. the quality is not EVER gonna be as good as MTV in that aspect. the meat puppets have the feeling. Cobain is just parroting it.

    etc. it's just conjecture really.

  • @randalex I don't care where they stop you for an interview. If you are a performing song writer you have got to do better than this. I'm a fan, but this sucked.

  • @randalex your right. the pups live electric version is awesome but i like this version just not as much as the live version or the meat puppets 2 version.

  • Fuck Yea.

  • wow im 13 and have been playin guitar for 2 months and i can play it better than this.

  • @jeffs43 its not how good you play or sing its how much soul and heart u put into the actual music

  • @jeffs43 ehh no just no

  • whats wrong with you guys? this guy created grunge years before kurt even played

  • @halosparks WTF?? Meat Puppets arent even a grunge band.

  • thank u kurt for saving that song.yours is much more better

  • Kurt was inspired by this....

Jimi was inspired by Bob Dylyn,

    Jesus,, was inspired by God.....

    Full circle?

  • buf...toca como el culo xd

  • I really don't wanna argue who does this song btter - the man is sexy for christ sake!

  • This Guy wrote the song, this is Kurt's favourite band!!!!!

  • i love seeing people trash kirkwood because they think hes playing nirvana songs poorly or something when HE wrote oh, me , plateau, and lake of fire...highest rated comments are trashing curt and the meat puppets!!!

  • @Joee1257 i know its funny they claim to be NIRVANA fans but havent even listened to the part on NIRVANA UNPLUGGED when kurt says all these songs (OH,ME, PLATEAU,LAKE OF FIRE)are off there second record.who's record do you think he's talking about. kurt cobain loved curt kirkwoods music.A NEW MEAT PUPPETS CD OUT APRIL 12 2011 ITS TITLED LOLLIPOP.

  • You know I have a feeling that if Kurt Cobain were still alive he would really hate some of his fans. Think about it, Kurt liked this song and the meat puppets so much that he asked them to come on stage and perform their songs with him on HIS mtv special, if he could hear you guys talking shit about them in his name I imagine he'd be pretty pissed.

  • @OriginalRubberJesus I feel the exact same. People are so fuckin ignorant.

  • This guy doesn't deserve to play a Nirvana song.

  • @Skaterboy692 He wrote it idiot....

  • @LABGangsters Okay I didn't know so let me rephrase it. This guy should be embarrassed to sing a song that HE wrote, that another band PERFECTED.

  • @Skaterboy692 Thank you for not getting pissed off and abusing me.

  • @LABGangsters Your welcome.

  • @Skaterboy692

i prefer , this man should be proud to wrote this song thats this awesome.and well yeah, nirvana covered it and made it 10 times more awesome. but you got to respect this man for writing it.

  • @reneee1992

    How can you say that?

Have you ever heard the original version of lake of fire (studio)

It's maybe less clean than cobain's one but there's so much feeling in it.

  • @thixyll eh the way that Cobain sang is just a lot better than the original (and needs more vocal skills) altough Kirkwood really should get the credit for writing this song cause it's great.

  • @Patrycz4k If you really listen to cobain's music you should agree with me that vocals technics are not important, it's the feeling that maters.

Maybe cobain is a best vocalist than kirk but on this song Kirk touchs me more than him.

  • @Skaterboy692 ...you mean this guys is a song that he wrote. Nirvana did another version later on with the same band however. Genius

  • kurt did it SOOO much better!!

his voice was 1000 times better.

  • BARF!!!!

  • NIRVANA DID SOO MUCH BETTER, THIS GUY SUCKS!!

  • its originally a Meat Puppets song.

  • He sucks ..

  • 17 mothafukka gone to the lake of fire to fry.

  • I think nirvana is better. Ohh unplugged :D

  • Anybody know what epiphone that is?

  • wow it must really suck to be an artist and know that another artist played your song only once and it was a better version than you could have ever performed yourself............... i would be soooooooooo pissed

  • @DeliciousPoop Better version? Do yourself a favor and go see the Meat Puppets Live. I bought one Nirvana record in my life and every Meat Puppets Record ever made. Cobain would disagree with that comment You nose picker!

  • @woodenthomas HAHAHA, 1. you don't know what cobain REALLY thought.... 2. who cares? i care about my opinion not someone else's......... and when you play this version vs cobain's version side by side.............

lets just say one is the red headed stepchild with freckles of the other one

  • @DeliciousPoop you are a dumb kid. Cobain was a big fan of the Meat puppets. And its not important who sings better, important is WHO WROTE the song and its was Curt Kirkwood, he was the genius who wrote Lake of fire, Oh me and Plateau. And do you know why Cobain invited the Meat puppets? He said because they just couldnt get a cool version of the song so they needed the author of the song. so shut up

  • @okean23 i guess this means i have to call you a degenerate retard then..... what is your point in the way of a rebuttal to what i wrote?.......... cobain's version SOUNDED BETTER........ that is all........... you're talking about some irrelevant nonsense.................. you have very obvious fandom reflexes that simply do not apply here. So you like the Puppets, great, they wrote a song that someone else performed better.

  • @DeliciousPoop no it refers to your other comment, that it really must suck for the puppets that Nirvana played the song once and its way better. Its a dumb comment, there is no reason they should think that. Without Curt there is no Nirvana version.I am not such a big fun as you may think, I just like them and think Curt is a great songwriter and its no shame that he cant sing good. The singers from bands like Pixies, Sonic youth,Jane's addiction also cant sing but have better songs than Nirvana

  • that guy is shit!!!!

  • meat puppets and nirvana collabarated for the unplugged show for this song, kurt sung but didnt play guitar.

  • mamma mia che schifezza

  • PAUSE AT 0:52-0:53 ... JIZZ IN MAH PANTZ

  • If you heard Kurts version first...this one sounds fucked up...

  • @LarsUlrich2423 yeah! It's like Dad picked up the guitar and said... "Let me try that song..." :D

  • @LarsUlrich2423 thnx God, Kurt made another version of this song.haha!sooo waaayyyyyyy better than this.

  • @LarsUlrich2423 i did :(

  • @LarsUlrich2423

    I like the original.

  • @LarsUlrich2423 same here bro

  • @LarsUlrich2423 This guy is a genius, The chords he uses and the lryics gel together so well and he's wrote loads of great songs that just dont get the airplay they deserve !!!

  • @LarsUlrich2423 Same with David's version of the man who sold the world.

  • Comment removed

  • jesus christ this is terrible compared to kurt's version...

  • shit, that sucked compared to Kurt's version

  • Correction: it's a mix between john Huston and Rutger Hauer!

  • Comment removed

  • Curt Kirkwood looks like John Huston.

I prefer 10 times his singing that Cobain's.

It's so cool that after so many years and quite polished albums, Curt still sings the song with that same fragile voice. He learned to play but luckily not to sing!

  • Listen to the 1993 Nirvana Unplugged In New York....

  • like of fire, plateau, oh me...all song are meat puppets.....

  • Kurt Cobain is ten times better singer

  • @acdcrocks304 Curt Kirkwood is ten times better musician

  • @acdcrocks304 this version is ten times fucked up!!!!

  • I don't fucking care about bullshit comments! I just love the music.

    So fuuuck off haters!!!

  • i guess cobain crediting the meat puppets during the dang performance didn't connect enough dots for some.

  • I think, He sings badly, it's just, he wasn't autotuned :D

  • I think he doesn't sing that, it's just, he wasn't autotuned :D

  • This is a great song, but Nirvana Did it better.

  • @FredFan8

Too bad Nirvana never did this song.

  • @sidneykylebowman1 No matter who did what, nobody would even know who the meat puppets are if nirvana hadn't covered this and the others. . Call it what you wanna call it, but it was a cover, the meat puppets were playing, but it was a nirvana show. People could argue back and forth all day long, either way i still love the song!

  • @HomeMadeNirvana

Just saying, tired of people taking credit, even if Kurt is a better singer.

  • good point but this guys voice sucks lol

  • some say he is insane....maybe? artist?

  • some say he is insane....maybe?

  • As a massive fan of metallica and nirvanna,i have to say, good cover of this song, but not as good as unplugged!

  • @20metallica cover? teehee.

  • thx for this : )

  • damn he's a pretty bad singer

  • Merci pour cette vidéo! Les MEAT PUPPETS en live, un de mes plus grands rêves... Vous avez bien de la chance ...

  • nirvana makes so much better version, this's a bit sucks, and by the way omg how he sing this, horrible

NIRVANA THE BEST EVER! and voice of kurt <3

  • @5744basia Hey asshole. I saw the puppets in concert and they were great.

  • @5744basia you're definately a Nirvana's poser.

  • @5744basia ¬¬ shut UPPPP!!!!

  • Nirvana makes the best version..... ever

  • Nirvana makes the best performance of this song.....

  • Das futt ne jeggt toh. Bessabente!!!!

  • this is tremendous. i only knew the nirvana version, and now im dissapointed by the original, and even more impressed of kurts version :)

  • @caandaar : kurt es kurt, pero Meat puppets es Meat puppets !!! and this song is a song of meat P !!!

  • no es lo mismo kurt es kurt

  • Beautiful...

  • hes stoned and fuckd up....

  • @slackerbitch11 as am i

  • What guitar is ?

  • @castlekingside your joking right??cris is ALIVE and well.where did you get that he was dead??unless it was a cris imposter..just kidding he's alive

  • dude. kurt cobain was a big fan of the meat puppets and coverd their songs. this is originally a meat puppets song that nirvana coverd. but yea the nirvana version is better by far.

  • this band needed a fuckin vocalist that wasnt on heroin

  • @rbNNNN so did Nirvana

  • R.I.P Cris Kirkwood a true legend lost.

  • @castlekingside28 hes dead? u sure?

  • ok i gotta sat this is great but the nirvana version is better. sorry if u dont thinhk so.

  • @erk4571 your an idiot your the one thats god awful, and im disapointed in YOU..go suck a tail pipe!!

  • yes, he is one of thew meat puppets!!!

and hes doing great... hes realy enjoing playing, you can see and hear it. i think thats what their music makes so special. it doesnt exist because of any comercial succes but because they love to make music.

    MEAT PUPPETS FOREVER ;)

  • this guy sucks nirvana and the meat puppets versions were totally way better lol

  • @rocketdog313 isn't this guy in the meat puppets? and I believe he plays the guitar on the nirvana version.

  • im not real sure he may be lol

  • Vladimir homophobic redneck dick!

  • for me he is the worlds best guitarist ......please god gimme some of his talent

  • you guys do realize that Nirvana never even covered this song, they played ONE show with the Meat Puppets, the Meat Puppets and Nirvana were playing at the same time so technically the "Nirvana version" is just the Meat Puppets with Cobain singing

  • @OriginalRubberJesus have to disagree... go get the unplugged cd

  • @ebinbrady in the CD he specifically mentions that the meat puppets are performing with them, you can also watch the video and see the meat puppets if thats not enough for you

  • holy shit this is god awful. i'm disappointed.

  • dude your really smart what did you eat for breakfast this morning?

  • @OriginalRubberJesus well...no it was on nirvanas unplugged album. Its a nirvana cover with the meat puppets. Theres nothing wrong with that though i dont see how it matters.

  • @OriginalRubberJesus Thats wrong.

  • @keven6373

    what part of it?

  • @OriginalRubberJesus Cover song - noun

a recording of a song that was first recorded or made popular by somebody else; e.g "they made a cover of a Beatles' song"

  • @OriginalRubberJesus and dave and krist where there

  • @OriginalRubberJesus unplugged!!! right?

  • @OriginalRubberJesus Dave Grohl drumming actually

  • @OriginalRubberJesus YOU do realize that Dave is playing drums, and Krist is playing guitar... so nirvana is still playing the song. if you want to get all technical about it.

  • @muzicsalesman Has everyone forgotten about Pat Smear?

  • @PhoenixMacabre haha. poor ol' Pat Smear. he really is an unspoken talent.

  • @OriginalRubberJesus

The original song is waaaaaaaaaay different than when they played with Nirvana.

They must've had some organization before the show, and it's at NIRVANA'S unplugged show, they played it, so it's a cover.

  • @shadowfall33 Exactly

  • @shadowfall33

the meat puppets never played this song the same way twice, Ive heard slow, fast, acoustic, and punk versions of this song all by the meat puppets. and it isn't a cover if you're performing with the original artists.

  • @OriginalRubberJesus that is completely false. nirvana covered this song at their unplugged concert. none of the meat puppets were there.

  • @MarshallPCRA

Have you actually watched the MTV Unplugged video? Because if you do you'll notice that at the point where the meat puppets songs start Kurt Cobain puts down his guitar and Cris and Curt Kirkwood of the Meat puppets come on stage and provide the guitar and bass for the rest of the concert, Cobain actually introduces them as the meat puppets. All Cobain does is sing, and Dave Grohl plays the drums, thats all nirvana actually does in the "nirvana version"

  • @OriginalRubberJesus oh shit you are right. looks like you learn something new every day.

  • @OriginalRubberJesus If you watch the rest of MTV Unplugged Krist, dave, Pat and kurt are the only ones playing, watch comes as you are, about a girl, where did you sleep last night etc.

  • @MarshallPCRA 2 of them were there, Kurt introduces them and says there name as their walking off stage

  • chords anyone?

  • @282828m

Gm,F5,Bb,Gm,C,Bb,G5,F5,Bb, C,F5,G5,F5,Gm,G5 thats the way i play it.

dont forget to tune down a half step! have fun with it!!!!

  • @shotterslife

    thanks man!

  • REASON 1 - you dick...

  • I don't think they had any problems with nirvana playing them, cause they actually played the songs with nirvana. They played this song with them in the unplugged in New York.

    Great Bands, all of them.

  • Nirvana never took credit for this song. And for The Man Who Sold the Wold either...

But some people are bloody idiots.

so don't criticize Nirvana for that -__-'

  • Actually they gave them credit after each song..their versions just happen to be more familiar/popular soooo

REASON 1- for you = ignorance.

  • @dudegointosnap those both versions are a lot better then the original ones!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh how I love Curt's vocals....

  • Comment removed

  • and its not a nirvana song at all..oh, the irony.

  • @GEOpz838 hahah

  • @GEOpz838 Kurt actually mentions that the song is by The Meat Puppets :) .

  • I hope you aren't serious....

  • @KrakenZero its not a nirvana song stupid:P

  • Ehem escuse me, favorite nirvana cover.

  • you suck man... but you are something to someone and thats the thing..... or not?.... love you
