I've seen Vai & Satch Live ?? times & owned most of the albums from, Howe, Kotzen, Lane, Pettrucci, Lynch, Impilliterri, Becker, BucketSHITHead, Chastain, Stump, V Moore, Tafolla, etc..., and the best shredders ala Paul Gilbert, & classics like Schenker, Roth, etc.., but there is something AWESOME about Ynqwie!! Its the real deal, with the classical licks, ultimate classic guitar, the vibrato, and that he invaded the USA in 84?? like a fuckin' Viking

There are a lot of fast guitar players out there, but very few of them have the vibrato, accuracy, phrasing, and compositional skills of Malmsteen!!!

@zxpress Exactly right - that was a tech tuning each strat. Yngwie will go thru 8-10 strats during an average gig, and he is a STICKLER for the guitars being in tune when handed to him (you will see him adjust the tuning of his high e string several times in the first song alone). With the scalloped neck, he has to depress the strings farther, creating more tension on the string witch eventually stretches it out, and also scalloped necks are slightly less rigid due to slightly reduced mass.
@BandManG How far you depress the strings has to do with your level of action. It doesn't matter if the board is scalloped. It's easier to depress them too far with a scalloped neck though.

There is LOADS of "soul" in Yngwie's music. You can't feel it, because you aren't the composer. You are the listener, and you get out of it, what you get out of it. Yngwie put into it, what he put into.. So the argument of soul or no soul, is and always will be invalid for either side. Just enjoy his shit.

@zxpress Exactly right - that was a tech tuning each strat. Yngwie will go thru 8-10 strats during an average gig, and he is a STICKLER for the guitars being in tune when handed to him (you will see him adjust the tuning of his high e string several times in the first song alone). With the scalloped neck, he has to depress the strings farther, creating more tension on the string witch eventually stretches it out, and also scalloped necks are slightly less rigid due to slightly reduced mass.
