hey people need to get over the fact of the music in this video. Klause Badelt and more importantly Hans Zimmer are two of the greatest film compsers ever.
Recent message from Russell Crowe: "If you want a Master and Commander sequel I suggest you e-mail Tom Rothman at Fox and let him know your thoughts." This is the same Rothman that supposedly had a hand in ruining Wolverine and is now holding back on Master and Commander. Some may remember that Crowe did say a script had been written based off of another novel, but it was still in the very early stages...
@1234514 Personally, I'm not really a pirate fan. that was more like captain bligh of the hms bounty. I'm quite familiar with zimmer. I have nearly his entire collection. including many of his complete / expanded scores that you can't buy. i alsp have a close friend that is close friends with zimmer, and is in frequent contact with him. My opinion of him remains the same though. No media ventures composer should have any contact with Master and Commander.
I love this film. I like this music (Hans Zimmer is a good composer). But it's connected with a totally stupid film - just doesn't fit to theese shots.
I love this film. I like this music (Hans Zimmer is a good composer). But it's connected with a totally stupid film - just doesn't fit to theese shots.
I know what this music is... this is "let's see if we can just use synthesizers instead of people" type of music, Aubrey would be rolling in his (obviously non existent) grave if he knew of this.
There are many great things about this movie. Kilick and Pullings are perfectly cast.
The uniforms, weapons, and ships are very accurate. But the scpript is what really hurts it. With 21 books to choose from the one Peter Weir chose would be
near the bottom of my list. To make matters worse he changed what was
interesting about that book. The fact that they were chasing an American privateer.
@apurtanic16 Well. The doctor of the Acheron has dead several months before the movie time-line.
At the end of the movie, when the Acheron is captured, Jack finds the 'captain', dead in the ships hospital(sickbay or something XD). But, the guy who pretends to be the doctor(and talks to jack) is the real captain.
The guy lying down is just a random dead guy. The French captain gave the dead guy his captain clothes to stay out of the hands of the English ;)
The way a ship would surrender in those days would be the ship's officers taking down the colours and informing the enemy the ship was theirs. So to speak, this never happened in the film - so therefore the Acheron, and her captain never surrendered. In this short scene where Jack realises that he had been made a fool, the 'doctor' could stir up-trouble for Lt. Pullings and possibly start and uprising to get his ship back.
The music works well with this trailer. But in the movie..why is Bondon (fleet boxing champion) played by a Hobitt, why is it a French privateer.. .it should be American, where is the Doctors famous"cold reptilian stare", and last of all
where are all the beautiful women ? Diane, Sophie, etc.
Well, gentlemen , I hope you realise that the film itself is a hoax - an American LIE. The FACT of the matter is that HMS Surprise went after a US ship at the time and therefore the perfideous fiends were the Yanks, not the French. But whatever the yanks tell you, Brits, you are happy to swallow it ;)
I think the song suits the film really well! Its all swash and buckle which the fellas in the film exemplify , its short(!) and its great in its sea shanty sort of intensity! I know that's a controversial view but I think the marriage of "He's a pirate - Captain Jack Sparrow" and Russell's character Captain Jack Aubrey isn't a million miles away from being a success! It's a bit of fun nonetheless.
@gtmunn i know you were doing some pirate imitation... on text, wich is cool. BUT.. this music is Hans zimmer's work, and hes one of the best in what hes doing!
Master Blakeney (the kid who gets his arm amputated) is Gaius Octavius from the first season of HBO's Rome....holy crap, just realized that while watching this video. Loved him 10x better in Rome where he wasn't complaining every five minutes.
Imperator88, it is a military thing, but not a battle or even a war that´s going to be fought in the seas,; not even on this earth. It is only a training for the future and most important battle! A war we carry within ourselves. The Eternal Battle against our most inner self.
It doesn't matter, about the spelling, if you google Patrick O'Brien, you get to the place you need to be, no probs :-) Just re-reading them all for the third time ;)
It's a military thing. Think of every one of those glances as from your brothers. Then think you have all nearly lost your lives, and are still here. That's what the close-ups mean to me in this vid.
I love it!! The historical reverence and military comradery here is weirdly magnified by setting it to Pirates of the Carribean music!! Two great things that go great together...
Absolutely wonderful. Master and Commander clips+ PotC music. Brilliant. Now if we could some how combine with Hornblower clips... We'd have all my favorites together in one video... *puppy eyes* Please??? Actually, I probably should try to make it myself, though I'm still trying to figure out how to make videos...
I like it very much!! You´re really good at making videos!! Ahhhh!! Before I forget, please check your inbox here in youtube. I meant to send you a message, but somehow I didn´t get around to it. Please!!! check if you´ve gotten it!! Thanks.
You have got to be fucking kidding me ? Master and Commander and you put it to music from Pirates of the Caribbean ?.
