Little Jimmy Dickens gave him a pair of his pants one time as a joke. It's a shame he and his wife were murdered for the sake of try to get his money. He was a great Grand Ole Opry star. He and Grandpa Jones were next door neighbors.
@Passthepie It was in 1973--String didn't trust banks so he kept all his money under his bed--the burglars (two local brothers) heard about it and gunned down String and his wife in cold blood at their country farm.
Yeah, my family and I were having a cookout at a roadside park when the news came on the radio.I cried for quite awhile...I had several records of Strings and was devastated. he was my hero and my grandfather met him in the 1950s when he was doing his radio show. almost 40 years later and i still miss him...the Grand Ol Opry and Hee Haw wasn't the same after.
@bluemisan look at roscoe halcolm videoes from the 40's or 50's and you find one with some good ole boy on the porch and i say he is moonwalking like michael jackson or more like the other way around

Must be something about wearing them pants too low. Always leads to an untimely death.
