I know this is an old video, but I'm curious to whether you know why there was oil on the filter before you unscrewed it. I found out that my rear main seal is leaking all over the clutch and on the the side of the oil pan. It's very slow though.
ty was just wondering how to get to the oil pan tyvm :P
5 stars
btw yes an oil change may cost 25$ ( well sombody told me is what it costed )
i bougt the stuff for about 30$ problem is you dont realy know what kind of oil they put in it if you do it on your own then you know whats in it . you also have the confidence that other stuff hasnt been messed with ( its common place here in canada btw)
Great video. I'm thinking about doing my own oil again so I don't have to listen to the sales pitch for extra stuff from the quick lube place. Its probably faster as well, the difference is I'm working on the car instead of just killing time waiting for them to finish.
Most places here in California charge at least 35 or higher for oil changes. Just a base price nothing fancy!! 2000 Ford Ranger 4 Cylinder!! Versus 20 or less to do it on my own!!!
@xj650rj - I might be able to help you with an air filter upgrade for better filtration, more power and better fuel economy. What year/make/model/engine vehicle do you have?
@popopopopopo8 -If you go to my web site listed on my channel and click on the, "Online Product Look Up Guide", it will tell you what viscosity and type of oil is recommended for your vehicle, how many quarts it takes, torque specs, filter part numbers, the type of transmission fluid, gear lube, etc. It's a free service you can use at my web site. Enjoy. :)
i own a 4.0l 2004 ford ranger, is the oil drain plug right underneath the filter or farther back towards the rear of the vehicle?

@DistantTwinkle - Seems awfully expensive. Here on the East coast, cheap petroleum oil changes are only about $20.

could you do a video on a f150 or. what oil would you recoemend for a 4.9 6 1994 f150 with 114 thousand. would you recomend high mileage
jdshaq 2 years ago
@jdshaq - You can use a 0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30 or 0W-30. For the best protection and cost savings, a quality synthetic motor oil is the way to go.

thanks, that was helpful. I'd rather do this than have someone else do it for more than 40 bucks a time!!!
