The sad part about the whole thing red is that snipes took his convoluted incorrect interpretation of the statue as a measure for the character of the people on the jury.

In essence, while there is certainly a regional cultural flavor, the races also have distinct cultural values and norms. Those who would say that there are no racial cultures do the blacks as well as Indians a disservice, not to mention the Mexican culture. Since we know that white culture, actually Northern white culture, as of now is dominant, to say there is only one culture, is actually about as racist as it gets. Southern whites, blacks and the rest all deserve cultural preservation. See?

Now if blacks can have a distinct culture and Indians can have a dstinct culture, and they do, then whites must also have a distinct culture. It is just that the white culture has traditionally been dominant. If you can't see that, then you need to get out of the suburbs of Lexington and get out into the small towns of rural South Carolina, walk the streets, go in the different white and black places and see for yourself. I grew up in small town South Carolina. Where every town is 2 towns in one. A white one and a black one. Indians for all purposes, do not exist here. If you deny there is a black culture, then you haven't been around them. They would agree with me. Indian culture? Well...who the hell really knows, since no one wrote down what they were like before white influence, but bet your ass it was different. Point is, Indians wouldn't claim either of us. We are whites to them, as well as blacks.

Well I have to tell you that the people locally who are most against our culture and the people voting to support them are predominently White. They are just from the Northeast and hate anything Southron as 'backwards' and 'racist' and so on. These are not Mexicans or whatnot, they are nearly all White people who just hate the South but want to live here because of the climate and land prices.

Yes, I understand what your saying that the South is a culture. For example, The southwest is a culture in change. I lived in the New Mexico and in Mexico for years, and was a minority there. If your white there, your a minority; If you don`t speak Spanish, your not welcome. So, isn`t it being intellectually dishonest to say it`s not also about race and culture? BTW, I`m white, and I could care less. It means nothing too me, but it does to others.

My family has been in Lexington County since the 1700s and is made of all 3. Cherokees joined my family tree before a carpetbagger ever even thought about commin down here. If honoring my Cherokee Confederate ancestors and my black Confederate heroes means Im betraying my roots then so be it.

Whites on top, mixed races and Indians below that and blacks at the very bottom. That....is the local, traditional culture. Somehow, it leaves a lot out.

I have Indian in me to, as many around here but I am a white man, raised in white culture, with a black cultural periphery.

the enemies of South Carolina culture have the same "tradition of class society"; actually even more so. Lincoln himself was a white supremicist and many northern states had laws banning blacks from living there. They were so mean to the blacks that they started rioting left and right. that never happened in Dixie.

Blacks here have nothing in common with Africa. They eat southern food and live southern lives and pray to the same God I do.

There is white northern culture. The south embraced other races long ago. Blacks were part of the culture so where native Americans. Race never really mattered down south we have always had equality of opportunity. Those up north have always considered their areas white areas. Look at the Jim Crow laws pre 1860. The most racism is exhibited and displayed up north not down south. Blacks have had their inherent culture destroyed and look at the whites who brought them here and embraced them

Urinesauce, is there a single European culture or are there national cultures of the various peoples of Europe? I would say the latter. I live in central Spain for 4 years and even within that state, there are several different cultures with great differences in cuisine, language, work ethic, architecture, etc.

Just another example of southern cultural genocide. A people without a history are a people easily controled. Never be silent, never relent, never believe that we are without hope. They will not win unless we stop the fight . Every Southron should at the very least be flying one of our flags in their yard, and wearing one on their person at all times. The South has always fought for it's own independence, and the fact that the Southron Culture is being taken out of The South is horrible. I would NEVER move to Florida, nothing againt Florida, it has just been polluted with yankees.

The aspect of this whole yankee issue that amazes me the most is the simple fact that we don't want to go up north, EVER. It is they who wish to come and be with us, not the other way around. It is an invasion that started after the War of Secession and has never stopped. Every year, and I mean literally every year I see more swamp and marshy areas pumped out back-filled to put in yet ANOTHER condo development. I remember when I was a boy, most of even Orlando was still basically swamp. Sad

I know what you mean, towlebucket. In the Low Country of SC, the most beautiful part of the State, they regularly cut down huge live oaks which are hundreds of years old, drain the area and build condos little planned communities for retired yankees. It's terribly sad to see the land being destroyed like that and filled with people who hate us and our culture.

Thanks for settin' it straight about us "off the coast" folks being as Southron as ever. It's amazing really, we're the fourth most populace state in America and yet if you go 10 miles inland from almost any point on our vast coastline you won't see anything but citrus grove, cattle or marsh/swamp.......that means there's a whole mess of invaders living directly on or at least near our beautiful water. These "people" intend to change us, to white wash OUR traditions......and they are winning.
