Well that depends on the intent of the various myths, legends and superstitions it is a collection there of. If it was intended to be used in order to control the masses (seriously doubt this was the original intent) then it is indeed all a lie, however it is merely a story book then it inherently has no truth to it nor can it hold lies. I've the torah, the bible, and Quran (over the course of several years and somewhat by force) So I see it generally as Torah- introduction to god, Bible- god with people spiritually, Quarn- god in society morality. That may be why you don't see that much words of wisdom from the first parts of the bible. A lot of it has things with personal conduct and such.
